    Beretta 92FS question

So I got a beautiful used Beretta 92FS that is shooting 2" right at 15 yards. The sight is dovetailed in with no screw.

Reading around the way to move it is using a punch and drifting the sight. Well I have screwed up the finish and bent the punch. Yes I put it in a padded vise and am hitting the punch with a 3lb hammer square. Nothing is working and I am afraid I am going to break something. That SOB is in there tight.

Does anyone have a sight pusher that will work with a 92FS? What else can I try?

    Thanks, Sammy

Seriously consider getting a gunsmith involved.

Good advice. Just don't ask him to clean it...95 bucks to drop it in an ultrasonic...

Many dovetailed sights are wedged in directionally, and you need to remove and replace them in the right direction. I can't say that's exactly what's going on with your gun, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that's what's going on. Regardless, you need to hit up the experts at Bertettaforum.net.

92 sights are a pain in the *** to drift. Your best bet is to find gun smith with a sight pusher, or you can buy one yourself (about $100). If you still want to try it yourself, you can try putting the slide in the freezer for a half hour or so and then give it another shot.

Before messing with the sights - its common for people to pull the gun sideways. Try benching it and/or let someone else shoot it. Just a suggestion.

Also, is the barrel perfectly centered in the slide, or does it tilt to the side (one way or the other)? Every once in a while, someone will report this issue with the barrel, and the gun is therefore "off"

It is not me, the gun is shooting right. I am getting great groups but with 3 different loads it is very consistently right.

I will try the gunsmithing forum.

I definitely think having a gunsmith look at it is the best way to go
