My M&P 9 first shoots!

Hey all! Well after waiting a day after I got her out of jail I was able to shoot her on some nice BLM land. The ammo was federal, weather was awesome, location great! Since this is a brand spanking new m&p I did the usual clean and lube the night before. Not to much anti rust oil/gunk on it. My first issue I found was the slide release is extremely difficult to release but figure it just needs to be broken in (or polished). Anyways on to the shooting sight up and slowly squeeze bang oh yeah! Bang bang bang what a blast!

I'm so happy with it it's crazy! Quick fire it sights back up so nicely! I also tried the different back straps but ended up using the small. But dam are those mag springs stiff! So stiff I slipped and cut my finger! No big deal but she tasted blood and now shot even smoother! Little recoil and next I knew it I had gone though 150 rounds! Son of a biscuit!

My sis's husband had a baby eagle in .40 and that was also a nice shooter. It had a bit more recoil but to me was a bit heavy and would go past my target if moving quickly. Then we moved to our rifles and played a few games of horse.

This day was a blast my only other complaint about the m&p is the trigger pull the take up is quite a bit and same with the reset. I'll break it in a bit more and look into some trigger mods. I'm getting ready for the tactical turkey day whoot! This weekend was to short!

A few strokes with a diamond stone to the top rear edge of the slide catch will take care of the stiff slide release issue. An Apex sear, striker block and RAM will take care of your trigger. Enjoy your M&P. I love all 4 of mine.

Thanks! Yep will do the dimond stone on the edge. Yep you pretty much listed exactly what I was looking at from apex got to save some coin!

Do the mag springs eventually loosen up a bit? Was looking at the uplula mag loader...

Congrats. The more you shoot your M&P the more you'll learn to love it. My slide catch and magazine springs were very tight too.

I just picked my M&P 9 up on Tuesday and I LOVE it. Is it crazy that now I want the compact in 9 as well after only shooting this thing once? haha

I friggin' love my M&P 9mm. Extremely accurate, nice weight balance, and it is the most comfortable pistol that I have ever held. I feel your pain with the trigger, it is a little gritty, and the travel is a bit excessive.

My mag springs were also a b**** when I first picked her up. That 10th round is a damn nightmare! My thumbs may never be the same again...

I picked up one of those HKS loaders, and that made everything MUCH easier. Now, after about 500 rounds through them, the 10th rounds is doable, but still a bit tight.

Even with it's minor faults, I would still trust my life to my M&P any day of the week!

Yes exactly! I want to shoot more now hahahaha why can it be the weekend already? I'll probably go with the duty/carry aek and a few other goodies from apex tac. Is there any spare parts I should get?

The 10 rounders dont loosen up very much. Not like a standard capacity.
They want to make sure its impossible to fit and 11th round in there.
10 th rd. is always a pain in the but.

Don't do that, shoot it a few more times and it won't feel so stiff.

I picked up my M&P 9 back in July and have put about 2000 rounds through it... The 10th round is still a pain in the a** to load, so I picked up an uplula and could not be happier! I've always loaded mags by hand, but think I may have just found the best thing out there (besides the M&P, of course!). Long story short - buy one! You won't regret it!!!

my 10 rounders load up just fine and i use the 10th round to push down the 9th one instead of my finger. I agree that they will always be stiffer than standard cap, but the 10 rounders loosen up enough not to be a problem. I dont know, maybe I have strong hands.
