PX4 Compact v. PM9

I currently have a PM9 for EDC and have an opportunity to get a PX4 Compact.
I have the full size PX4 and it has been the most reliable firearm in my collection.
I would probably be trading the PM9 for the Compact.
What say the Calguns collective?
Would the trade off for increased capacity be worth the increase in size/weight?

Dont do it. PM9 is a lot easier to ccw than the px4 compact. I am talking about day and night.

Have you considered buying a DB9. I know it if off roster but "if there's a will, there's a way"

I had the chance to shoot a Kahr PM9 today. All I have to say is WOW. Great trigger, VERY accurate. Talking an 8 shot 3" group at 15 yards. Very impressed.

It's not that the PM9 is to large it's actually the other way. I find my thumbs doing the wrong things with the PM9. i.e accidentally interfering with the side stop. I figured that since I was more comfortable/confident with my Px4 that the smaller version would make sense. Technically the dimensions of the Full-size and Compact are very similar so as Rolling code said it could be difficult to conceal. I'm not a fan of the no overhand when reloading of the Kahr. Maybe I'll wait and hope for positive reviews of the Nano and get that.
In my desert "training" I accidentally dropped the mag with the first shot from the Kahr and not being able to slam my spare mag home and slingshot it kinda unnerved me. Software issue not hardware issue I know but... Maybe more practice with it before making a change.

PM9 vs PX4 compact is a huge difference in EDC, as RC said. Personally, I would keep training with it.

If you don't give yourself a chance to become proficient with it, then you won't know if you can. If you truly do not like it or continue to have trouble AFTER you really try to get used it, then I would say it's fine trade/sell. I would always be willing to take it off your hands for say... $200

Is there a chance that your troubles are just with subcompacts? Have you tried others at all?

The PM9 is twice the gun the PX4 is. Practice more and get used to it. The easier concealability will be worth it.

The PX-4 compact is an outstanding firearm. Unfortunately, it is not on the CA approved list because it doesn't have a mag safety. If that's not an issue for you, I think it's an excellent choice:

1. It utilizes the Beretta rotating barrel which reduces recoil.

2. It has ambidextrous (not just switchable) safeties.

3. And, very unusual, it has ambidextrous slide releases that are very conveniently located for the thumb.

4. The slide action is significantly smoother and easier to work than a lot of other nines I own. This is of particular value if you are sharing the use of your s/a with a lady that has limited strength in her arms and wrists.

5. It's certainly no pocket pistol, but the frame and grip size seems perfect to me - not too large or too small.

6. While the PX-4 compact is typically sold with a 15 round mag, if that's a problem, the Beretta 10 round mag made for the standard PX-4 fits perfectly.

Just my opinion, but I actually use this model and I haven't found a thing I don't like about it.

BTW, if you go this route, I think Bud's has a the best delivered price. Last time I looked, it was $479.
