Best production 1911's.

If You had to pick a single stack 45 full size 1911 and to use for DUTY/CCW.

If reliability was Your NUMBER ONE concern ,would You look at Springfield (STD models , not custom), Kimber or a SIG SAUER?

I'm a 1911 nut, But..... I would never carry one as a duty or CCW gun. There are WAY more guns on the market that hold more rounds(Glock 21, HK USP 45) and perform better(Glock)

If I had to and I mean had to pick a production 1911 to carry, it would probably be a Colt XSE Commander or Government.

Springfield. In my humble opinion the TRP is the best "production" 1911 on the market.

Although I had a dream just last night that I sold both of my Springers and my Colt to buy a Baer.

I think Dan Wesson's PM7 and CBOB are better than Springfield's TRP... just me though. I don't like the cheese grater front checkering on the TRP. And the Black finish they use is fuggly imho. It is still a great gun but not the best.

They have external extractors and would not be the best choice for something reliable.

Kimber NO, Dan Wesson yes! High end Springfield maybe. As a 1911 lover I would have to say there are other 45acps I would consider to duty/carry [than a 1911] as they cost way less last at least as long and unless you spend bug bucks and are more reliable. What most people miss out on is if you [use] your pistol there is a very good chance the pistol may end up in the evidence locker for who knows how long ,would you want a $500.00 pistol or a $1500.00+ pistol in evidence locker? All it takes is a little thought.
