Whats the visible difference between new and old model ruger single actions

I always wondered. Whats an easy to see, dead giveaway that its a new model or old model single action, preferably blackhawk?

I believe the Old Models have 3 screws on the side. The New Model ones do not. I am not 100% sure, someone please chime in and confirm.

New Single Sixes also have a firing pin block. And yes they say New Single Six on the frame.

Look for the transfer bar. Cock the hammer back and you'll either see an unobstructed firing pin or you'll see a flat piece of steel that raises when you pull the trigger. And they say "new model" on the rollmark.

The old models will have 3 screws just above the trigger gaurd while the new ones have only two, Also look for a transfer bar all the new ones have them however some of the old ones have been updated wich decreases the value. After all that slowely pull the hammer back and you should have 3 clicks (sounds) instead of two.

If you have an old style Blackhawk, Ruger will install the transfer bar safety, free.
Then, it can be safely loaded for carry with 6 rounds instead of 5.
