    which handgun cheap

Hey guys, Im looking to buy a handgun (its not my first but I sold the rest before moving out of state) Now I'm looking for another pistol, I already have rifles/shotguns. I don't want to spend much 350 TOPS. I was looking at the ruger p95, S&W sigma, Hi-point. I don't want to spend much at all. My first choice would be the ruger p95, And then I threw the HP in there because I'm cheap :-/ This handgun would just be a drawer weapon. But in the back of my mind I still want something that I can count on if SHTF. What do you guys think?

You should use the term INEXPENCIVE. I actully own all 3 of the pistols you mentioned. The good things about the sigma and ruger are that you can get hicaps. The hi point your limited to 8 or 10rd. I would have to say out of the 3 I do like the hi point. I have shot over 1000 rounds threw my hi point with out any problems. You may have to tweak the magazines but after that the gun is built like a tank.you can get a new hipoint for around 150$ the sigma is about 350 out the door every one hates the trigger but it still shoots fine. The ruger is also built like a tank. I have seen them used for about 250 or so. Any of them will do the job. But if your on a budget get the hi point and a few mags and lots of ammo.

350 can buy a used Springfield XD9 or a XD40. Well made guns and MUCH better than all that you've listed

^^^I agree, but if $350 is your max and have no room to go over (Tax, DROS, ammo) might what to consider a .22 or revolvers. I suggest you wait and save up, $350 is alot of money if you can save up another $200-$300 you can get a Glock, CZ, Beretta, XD, etc.. better selection for the money, check out our for sale forum we have Glocks selling for under $500 with less then 400 rounds fired. Just my 2 cents!

The Ruger P series isn't pretty, or exceptionally accurate, but I've had a couple of them and if it came down to it I would have NO problem trusting my life to one of them.

Hipoint pistols are good value for the money. They'll go bang, and put a round accurately down range. You'll even have a hundred+ left over to buy ammo..

Of the 3, I would say Ruger P series. Though I would also say look at a Bersa .380 and check out the for sale section here, you can find some good deals there.

+1 on the P95. Mine sees a lot of shooting and has never let me down.

                  I have owned a Sigma in both 9 and 40, and I've owned a Ruger P89 and P95.

My recommendation if you own one gun, and want to use it for range and HD use, is the Ruger. Get a P89 if you can, I prefer them to their polymer cousin, but the P95 is perfectly serviceable as well. (The P89 lets you switch grips, has a sturdier metal frame, and for me at least, is slightly more accurate, probably due to weight)

The Ruger is built like a tank, mine have over 10k rounds through them and look like new. The trigger is not the best in the shooting universe, but it is far better than the Sigma, even after the removal of extra springs (the "Sigma trigger job"). It's even easier to get magazines for than the Sigma.

I truly love my Ruger, it's a pretty accurate, VERY reliable gun, with an ok trigger.

The Sigma is not as bad as it's made out to be, but it's not as good as the Ruger.

The HP is a joke, don't buy that POS unless you intend to use it as a baby rattle.

If you can pick up a lightly used XD for that price, that's an excellent gun too. My primary HD/range gun is my XD. With a trigger job, and a bit of grip tape, it is a sweet, sweet gun. It's very nice out of the box, too, but to really make it shine I recommend you put $130 into it later and install your own PRP trigger. You can do that down the line if you don't have the money now. Of the pistols mentioned, it's the most easily upgradable into a sweet shooting gun, and well above the others in accuracy. It's been very reliable for me after putting 2k rounds through it. Not a failure yet.

If it is not your HD piece then any of the above ideas will work. If it is, I say wait an extra few months and get a glock, cz, etc

IIRC, the Sig 2022 was listed on sale for $399. Pretty darn good value.

                            ^^^^ Agreed.
I currently own a Bersa Thunder .380 and am extremely happy with it. The only low point is the finish is not all that great. My son has actually fired. 1.5" groups (5 shots) from 10 to 15 yards. I have had 2 FTF's, both with WWB and an aftermarket ProMag Magazine. For HD, I use Remngton Golden Sabre 102 Grain JHP or Cor-Bon DPX 90 Grain JHP. Some guys also like Buffalo Bore and claim it is the hottest .380 round on the market.
I have bought and sold a Ruger P85 in 9mm. I have regretted it. It was a good gun, I was just not in love with how it felt in my hand. I ultimately replaced it with a Dan Wesson PM7 in .45 ACP. This is the good news, I love the DW.
                            Good luck.

Inexpensive and will go bang every time.
