    Glock 23 Ammo

    Hey fellow calgunners,

I just bought a new glock 23 and was wondering the best place/price to buy ammo. The store is selling for $25 for 50 and its a bit expensive, i know theres cheaper alternatives. Any advice is welcome, im around the san francisco bay area.

Also can i order ammo online??

Yeah, buy online. Walmart is a good suggestion though also, and the one in Mountain View and the one in either Fremont or Hayward (I forget... you'll want to search or call them) carries ammo. Other Bay Area ones do not AFAIK.

      Online? www.ammunitiontogo.com, www.sgammo.com, www.aimsurplus.com....

I personally would say stay away from luckygunner, cheaperthandirt, and some of the other big names, even though many are going to suggest them, because if you search you'll see that their prices (especially on shipping) are often a lot higher than the sites I linked above. ...and if you find prices that are relatively close, put the ammo in your cart and get a shipping estimate because shipping charges can vary in a BIG way... and don't forget to add that into your cost when you're price shopping against a local place like Walmart (but don't forget to consider tax when local).

appreciate all the advice guys! now .40 s&w is the standard ammo for the 23, i was reading around and theres some shooters who use a wide variety of ammo on the 23....
can you explain the pros and con of these and what ammo is the best ammo to preserve and maintain your weapon?

          Thanks again fellas

.40 S&W is the caliber and that's the only caliber you can shoot in your gun. Period. What brand of .40 S&W caliber ammo is up to you. The Glock should feed and fire anything on the market. Some people avoid the cheap Russian steel-cased ammo (Tula, Wolf, Brown or Silver Bear) but I've shot a couple thousand rounds of it through various guns and haven't had a single problem. It burns dirty, but it shoots fine and it's cheap. Anything from that to expensive brass cased nice stuff will be fine.

Ah! Mountain View, Fremont, Hayward... whatever . I knew it was "over there" somewhere haha

faisalwrf -- WWB = Winchester White Box. That's probably one of the most common "budget" ammos that is still brass cased. Brass cases are nicer than steel. It's a softer metal so it wont wear your chamber or extractor and whatnot as much. Although, again, I've shot thousands of the steel ones without a single issue and many people have shot more. Just personal choice and how important saving money on ammo is to you.

BTW at $0.25 per round, this wont be easy to beat: http://www.sgammo.com/product/aguila...mj-aguila-ammo ...it's even brass cased and I think you'll be really hard pressed to find a lower price per round anywhere. They also have it in boxes of 50 for $12.50 each.

Nah even with $22 tacked onto the $249 total, it's still way less than most anything else you'll find. That's $0.27 per round. The Walmart deal posted before my suggestions was $0.40 per round and the gun shop you went to was asking $0.50. You'll still have a hard time beating it ...and no sales tax...

Realize that $22 shipping estimate is for a case of 1,000 rounds. If you get less, like, for instance, 5 boxes of 50 rounds, you'll have to put them in your cart to get a shipping estimate. It WILL be less than the $22 for 1,000 rounds though. Bullets are heavy, so they're not usually cheap to ship.

Remmington UMC. The big yellow boxes at wallmart are usually $70 for 250 rounds.
