Weird thing happened at the range

So I was shooting my 226 da/sa tonight and on my last mag of the evening the gun goes "click." I released the mag (empty) and locked back the slide thinking it might have jammed. No sign of any jam. later did a quick disasemble to check the barrel and no bullet in it (thank god).

My question: why didn't the slide lock back after my last round? the only thing I can think of is maybe the mag wasn't completely seated?
(the rounds seemed to be feeding fine in that last mag, but it was a "pro mag" and not a sig factory mag if that matters)

Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.
P.s. I'll work on counting my shots! Haha

Could be tired after shooting and got a limp wrist.

You are right handed and you inadvertently were holding the magazine catch down when you fired the last round. So the mag did not push it up upon firing the last round. You and the gun are fine, just keep shooting.

Could be your hold interfered with the movement of the slide stop/magazine catch.....I tend to do this on many guns as I try to hold them like 1911's (I have a very high hold) habits......

Check your grip. Sometimes with a thumbs forward grip, thumbs tend to ride the slide stop on Sigs.

It happens more than anyone likes to admit, for reasons which are not always clear.
I get a lot of crap for this video, but you just experienced it first hand:

Thanks for the replies, I'm leaning more towards the pro mag just because I don't feel it sits in the mag well quite like the factory ones but it very well could be my grip too. Guess I just have to go back to the range and fire some more

ur using a PRO-MAG.. some of the most crap-tastic magazines in the world.. You're lucky they even worked at all..

I had 1 spill it's guts during a string a fire.. about 14 rounds of 9mm fell out the bottom of my gun from where the floorplate use to be..

After this, they got thrown into the "junk" bin along with all my other useless tacticool stuff..

Get some sig/mecgar made magazines and you'll reduce/eliminate the chances of something going wrong..
                      Aloha snackbar!

according to kyle defoor in his class at chabot, when the seals were using gloves when shooting, they would inadvertently cause the slide to not lock back, thus the "slingshot" slide rack was widely adopted because of the frequency of this occurence.

Could be bad/worn out magazine spring. It is the magazine follower that pushes up on the slide release when empty, thereby locking back the slide. If the mag spring is bad, the slide will not lock back.

This is the precise reason I am having to replace my mag springs for my USP45...it is a wear item after all, and 14 years has been a good run.

ProMag has a pretty horrible reputation. I think you're in the minority that it's actually feeding fine. Not locking back on empty isn't as important. At least for range use... Anyway, I'd bet it's the mag. The follower probably isn't correct... if you replace it with an OEM Sig (or Mec-Gar) follower it likely wouldn't happen again.
