    Swapping 1911 slides/barrels ?

Are they all close to the same design...?

(Waiting for my RIA and bought a Springfield 3" complete slide/barrel set-up on GunBroker...)

Should all 1911 uppers run on 1911 frames without issues...?

Or are there certain brands/models that won't mix...?

Physical fit will depend on how well the manufacturers held their tolerances.
The slide could be to tight side to side to fit on, or so loose it wobbles on the frame.

Is your RIA full sized (5")?
If so, most likely the 3" will not work due to front-to-rear travel issues.
(Officers and Commander size frames are different than Gov't size frames).

A shorter slide will usually need a different ejector to time the ejection of a fired case to when the ejection port is in the right spot.

If the 3" top end is a different caliber, you may need a different ejector so it aligns properly with the groove in the slide.

The 3" slide/barrel setup is a bushingless bull barrel. It is a completely different animal.
