Sig Sauer CS=amazing

I sent in my 89 p226 into the Sig Custom Shop for a Sig Service Package (replace extractor, firing pin, springs, decocker, screws etc), slide reblue and a free feed ramp polish was thrown in. It took a week to the day and I just got it back, and I'm absolutely amazed.

The damn thing looks brand new and has a new set of Siglites (I asked and he said they are mepro designed, been for last 5 years, they used to do trijicons). I was surprised, they are brighter than my trijicons, and larger dots, which I dont mind at all! The slide looks absolutely brand new.

The barrel had a patch of rust near the breech and tehy polished that and it wasn't even part of the package! The trigger is much smoother (not that I ever minded how it was even in DA mode) and it does feel lighter and I had that trigger memorized. The reset is also improved, its half of what it used to be and I didnt even buy the SRT or anything.

The only Gripe is that they lathered and I mean just gunked on so much grease (TW25) that it took me 10 mins to remove it by rags and Qtips just to clean it up. The feed ramp polish was excellent, its better than I could have ever done.

I highly recommend the Sig Custom Shop, they were professional on the phone and quick to send me my information and package. I only wonder now that they used the updated trigger wire thing, if that I can put on the newer(not E2) grips.

Gosh I think it was like 280 when it was all said and done. The gun has plenty of life in it, I just want it to be freshened up.

I agree! I'll have one or two up today, need to find a decent camera, they did an excellent job though. I'm hoping someone on here might know if I can use the standard grips now instead of the older ones

Here ya go, I'm so sorry guys, cant find my digital camera, Iphone pic is all I could do :/. The quality is terrible on the picture, but I'm telling you the finish is excellent. Wish I could make the markings white or red so I could see them better than just being blued.

So long as they used the newer style spring (with loop) you should be fine. I use Hogues on mine and all I had to do was replace the old-style spring.

That's interesting. I hear most people say that Sig quality has gotten abysmal compared to the west german days, and most people I talk to seem to say that Sig CS is just horrid.

When I've spoken to them, they've been downright rude. Springfield for instance has been 100% better, very accommodating.

I've had 2 experiences with Sig's CS, one excellent, one ok.

1. CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) 226 9mm. I got some surplus ammo during the 08-09 ammo crunch which was crap. I shot a bit then put the gun away and forgot about it for a month. When I pulled the gun out of my safe I could see rust running out of the barrel. After a very thorough cleaning, the barrel was still pitted.

Then the takedown lever broke.



I called Sig's CS and explained the issues I was having. They (1) Replaced my barrel with a lightly used one (2) Swapped out the takedown lever (3) Tweaked the frame to factory specs. All for a shipping charge of $55 (since it was out of warranty) and 8 days. (Including shipping.)

Frickin' awesome.

2. Brand new Sig 226 Navy 9mm. Shooting low. #8 and #8 standard sights. Tried different shooters, ammo, barrels, standing, bench rested: Shooting low.

Called Sig CS and explained the problem. If something was wrong with the gun, they were going to fix it under warranty. If nothing was wrong with the gun they were gonna charge me for shipping ($55) and range time (~$40). Then I mentioned I wanted to get some night sights installed, so they dropped the condition. For $125 they installed #6 and #10 night sights and included a very accurate test target. (The sight height adjustment works out to 2 inches up.)

Now it shoots just fine.

While I was at it, I asked if I could get 20% some accessories for registering my pistol (which I'd heard about on the forums). Sure enough, 20% off a .22LR conversion kit ($230).

So it worked out.

The funny thing about my whole SIG situation is: My M&P 45 shoots better, the melonite finish is more durable, it's lighter, and significantly cheaper. (Ain't that some s**t.)
