CZ 75BD or SP-01 ????

For my next gun purchase I'm considering between a 75BD and SP-01, which one should I get? I heard that some SP-01 have feeding problems, since we're in CA I guess teh capacity difference won't be a problem since they'll all be 10 rounders. I like the look of the SP-01 more but 75BD have a good track record. which one should i get?

FWIW only have the SP01, no issues at all, it's as good as the reviews say which is rare

They are the same gun with minor differences, mainly the full dust cover for the SP-01 adding a lot more weight to the nose of the gun. Feeding wise, both have the same exact design, so if one has a problem, the other should also. I've not heard of, nor have experienced any feeding problems with CZ75 family of handguns.

The choice comes down to balance if it were me. I would try handling both (maybe shoot both if you can arrange it). The one that feels better is the one you should buy.

OGHL888 is spot on with his assetment. I have a sp01 with no probs and for $400 it was an awesome deal. I'd probably rate it as the 3rd best platform design after 1911's and the browning hi power

I just bought a SP01 a few months ago and have around ~900 rounds through it. Not one problem so far, I love it.

Personally I like the SP-01 better than the 75BD (I actually put my 75BD up for consignment if that helps). Besides the full length cover which adds to the nose weight, the SP-01 has a newly redesigned slide stop and trigger which I like a lot more. The drawback is, of course, the puppy is heavy.

The factory recoil spring is pretty darn heavy, so I've had issues when using weak factory loads in mine, like the subsonic Win or Fed 147gr. My 147gr USPSA minor load doesn't work at all.

I shoot almost exclusively 147gr Fed (HST and Hydra-Shok) through all my CZs and haven't ever had any problems. All springs are factory, no modifications. Win-X 147gr Subsonic also worked well (shot only 1000rds of that) - it's dirty as hell but zero problems (it's not very accurate either); all 1000rds of it went through the SP-01.

lower weight recoil springs are available, and probably should be used if you are shooting low power loads. 11 lbs spring seems to be the most popular choice for replacement/lower power spring.

Yeah, as soon as I get the new LPA FO sights for my SP01 it's off to Kilword for some tuning

CZs are a good deal, especially considering the lower price.

The mags from a 75b work in that, don't they? or is it the other way around...

I don't really have to have a rail, but I wouldn't mind having another CZ in 9.

CZ75 and CZ SP-01 use the same magazines. The SP-01 comes with 18rd magazines (in free states) and, if you have preexisting CZ75 >10rds capacity magazines, you can rebuild/replace them with SP-01 mag parts to have the magazine cosmetically designed for the SP-01... or a 75 with a large base plate.

As long as the caliber is the same, you can switch between 75 and SP-01 all day long. 75 magazines will stick out below the magazine well on P-01s, however.
