New Glock owner question

Just picked up my new G19 and I'm cleaning it for this weekends outing and I noticed there's a gold compound / powder all throughout the slide.

Anyone know what it is. I'd take a photo but the gun cleaner took it right off.

What joelogic said it's the factory lube glock puts on their pistols too bad you cleaned it off it's real good stuff.

Seeing as you have removed the official Glock real-good-stuff, try replacing it with TW25b. It is an extreme conditions grease designed for firearms. A tiny dab lasts until the next time you clean it- it sticks to where you put it pretty well, and is slicker (lower friction coefficient?) than CLPs and other gun oils. It's real good stuff. Oh yeah, it's also the official lubricant of Sig Sauer. (That means it's really good, but it also means TW25 pays SigSauer to say that!)

Oh, and TW25 is also the official lube of the F-16 Fighting Falcon's 20mm gatling gun, which is handy to know should you ever want to fire your pistol while traveling at mach or above.

No big deal, Glock just puts it on there so that if the new owner does not lube it, at lest there is something on there. FYI its Fel pro C5A copperbased antiseize compound. Not the greatest lube, but it stays in place and wont dry out if the pistol sits on a distributors shelf for a long time.

never understood why people think the factory lube is so great since it is anti sieze. Any gun grease will outperform it by far. If I bought a glock, the first thing id do is strip that goop off the rails and apply real grease.
