    So last night...

I went down to Valkyrire Arms in Milpitas to make some inquiries about the SSE process and inquire what dealers they know will ship to them already.

After poking around the store for a few moments I was finally to start making inquiries, and one of the firearms I was interested in was already in the case. So the nice gentleman I was talking to (ugh I'm terrible with names) pulls it out of the case and lets me fondle it. We chat about the process, he explains the whole SSE thing, shows examples of what it looks like in the single shot configuration etc.

Then we start talking about the financial considerations.. and before I know it I'm trying to find a bank in Milpitas, so that I can run over to Target Masters and take the HSC test (Valkyrie was out of cards, and waiting on replacements). Aced the test and made a lame joke about I hope I shoot as accurately as I answered the test (which failed miserably).

Ended up back at Valkyrie with enough time to get everything squared away.

SSE XDm 9mm 5.25" DROS'd and in waiting period.

Phonecam fail.. but here's the pic.

Tempted to go out to Target Masters right after I pick it up next weekend, but I think they require you to bring a friend to use the range (or is that only for rentals?)

A lot of indoor ranges want you to bring a friend along if you are not a member. I believe they said that its due to the amount of people who commit suicide at indoor ranges.

If you have your own gun they should let you shoot alone. The buddy requirement is so people don't go to rent a gun and then commit suicide with it right there. They figure if you go with someone else you're not likely to be there to kill yourself. And if you have your own gun you could just kill yourself with that one so that's obviously not what you're there to do.

            Congrats on the gun!

And the "bring a friend requirement" is only for rentals. Since you have your gun already, they figure you can commit suicide anytime you want. It's like mentioned above that they don't want Joe Schmoe walking in, renting one, and shooting himself.

Ah.. cool.. that actually makes sense in a lot of ways. I'm sure there's some kind of liability if someone takes their own life with someone else's gun, even as a rental. That would explain the buddy thing. (Wonder why Markleys doesn't do that.. *shrug*)

Ha, ha. Here's a hint for next time you decide to go to Valkyrie Arms thinking only of window shopping or asking questions, bring your HSC card, two forms of ID (DL and car Registration), and cash/credit card. Always be prepared. And you can also hit Milpitas Walmart for some Fed 100rnd value packs while you're in the area for $20.

HA.. I actually tried to get some coworkers to come with me knowing full well I wouldn't have moved forward with anything if they were with me, as I'd feel like a jerk for keeping them out so late.

So really.. it's all THEIR fault..

SWEET! I was looking for one of those online, can you PM me for how much you paid? I did a SSE at Valkerie, but had to make 3 trips out to order the pistol, start my DROS, then pick up. I love the service they provide, and if I wasn't near Sac, I'd go every week to check on stock.

Thanks, less than 220 hours to go if I'm doing the math correctly.
