Anyone know the status of the new Springfield XD in .45 clearing the Kali test and being allowed to sell here? I am itchin to check one out.

I don't think anyone really knows. You can contact springfield, who have very nice employees, and ask them when they submitted the firearm for testing. This might give you a ballpark date for when it will be allowed for sale.

I was looking at the newly approved handguns list and it seems like they usually add new handguns every week but occasionally every other week. I would suggest it would be soon.

I was wondering the same thing. I have the XD40 now, only because they didn't have a 45 and I wanted more "poop" than a 9mm. Well, they had the gap, but I didn't want that. My buddies an I, although we aren't guru's, expect the price to be the same as the other XD's. We're thinking that they will be just shy of $500 and come like the others, in a case with three mags. Keep your fingers crossed that we are right.

After checkin' the Springfield site, seems like they don't have 10 round magazines, wouldn't that kinda screw it for CA owners?

They are probably waiting for the Kali test result. Why make 10 rounder if it will not pass. On the other hand, we have the other calibers here so they probably have the 10 rounders ready.

I saw the XD45 in the latest First Freedom magazine (NRA publication) - looks interesting! 14 rounds of .45ACP - I'm guessing that's 13+1? Anyway, same capacity as a Glock 21, but the XD appears to be taking the market by storm. Looking forward to seeing it come to CA.

In my opinion, i love the .45
i feel it is too large of a caliber for a plastic gun. I have a 1911 and it works wonders, i would leave my xd in .40 if you are in a free state, you can get a 20rd mag for the xd40 i remember seeing

                    it sure is purty lookin'

I eyeballed an XD last time I was at Irvington Arms, but I didn't know if it was the 9 or 40. I looked up XD's online to do some research and to my surprise the 45 was just released!

                      September

I have a deposit for the first xd45 at my local shop, they were told by Springfield that the 4" model would be first then followed by the 5" Tactical soon after.
Supposedly September for the Tactical model.

Gunner: Are you grabbing the XD 45 GAP or ACP? I haven't looked around too hard but the GAP is the only current 45 model with 9 + 1 right?

A loose thread of mine I found...

Yes, I talked to Springfield about 3 weeks ago. At that time they had already submitted their test arms to California earlier for testing. So it would seem it still is waiting to run through the 'ol system.

Ebwhite - the .45 is lower pressure than some other pistol rounds around, not sure why you think it isn't good for a "plastic" gun as you say. Actually there are several synthetic lower pistols in .45 that are very good.

                            Parados

Parados I am getting the 45 acp. While I think the GAP is a great idea, the lack of acceptance has kept ammo prices high. I shouldnt say it but I think I may end up with one before they hit the list. I found a person who just moved into Kalifornia with one that is interested in my Sig STR970.

too bad the xd45 tactical won't follow the same lines as the usp/p226 tacticals. shame we can't have threaded barrels here.
