My rear sight is fixed and appears to be only adjustable by tapping. Is there any adjustable rear sights that might replace this one or am I up a creek?

Check out Brownells as they carry alot of aftermarket rear sights. Keep in mind that your fixed sight BHP has a fairly low front sight that at least in theory is regulated to work with the lower fixed rear sight. Be sure you get a relatively low adjustable rear sight. I have a 70s version target BHP and the factory front & adjustable rear are pretty high up on the slide.
Also, I think at some point Browning changed their slot size - older models have one size, new another.GOA Member & SAF Life Member -
