    1911 Six O'clock Hold???

Alright so I just got my Kimber last week(Custom II) from a 2 month trip back to the factory for a repair and some upgrades. I've shot the gun 3 times now and the point of impact requires a six o'clock hold.

I spoke with Kimber and all they suggested was that I ship the slide back to them and they could change the POI to "combat" style by replacing the front sight with a taller one for $48.

Does Meprolight have different height options for their front sights? A Kimber representative said that they did but I cant find any information pertaining to it online... Let me know what you experts out there think.

Have a local smith upgrage the sights.

Why would anyone need 10 rounds of .50 caliber anti tank sniper ammunition???"

What kind of hold are you guys using? A 6 O'clock hold may be in order.

The 6 O'clock hold is effective with my gun but I prefer combat-style sighting. The gun's original sights were combat-sighted, meaning the point of impact was that point of aim. Now that I have the Meprolight Wedge Sights on it the sights have effectively been rendered "target-style", with the point of impact above the point of aim, which I HATE.

Change out your sights, My Custom II is a 6 o'clock hold.

To determine what height change you need, you need to shoot a target at a known distance, measure the change you want and know your sight radius of the handgun. Then you can use this sight calculator to see how much change in height you need: http://www.sdmfabricating.com/sightcalc.html

My Kimber shoots a lil bit high also which for me is preferable to shooting low

I changed my sights before I even fired my Kimber Custom II to Ameriglo Sights (actually made by Trijicon which is written on them). When I finally got around to shooting it the point of impact was perfect with your standard modified weaver and isololese techniques.

helpme, are you running 230 grain bullets? Most 1911s are sighted to point of aim/point of impact with that load.

Yup mines like an 8 I kinda like it that way myself. That way my targets not obscured by the blade. I use 230 Fmj and isololese at the range.

Dawson precision has a guide on how to properly order/determine which front sight height you need. Check it out.

Or, get an adjustable rear. They come in the Bomar and Novak style cuts.

you could lower the rear or try lighter loads group it using many different brands and styles and fine what your gun likes

i have the opposite problem my 45s all seem to shoot low so to actually hit where i want i have to aim high
