I would sell the USP because if you really want an HK down the line you can always get an HK45C. I'm in the same boat kind of I'm trying to get rid of all my guns that don't serve me some sort of purpose.

      $$$$ RECOMMENDATIONS

Get a paper route for your wife/girlfriend, give up cigarettes, avoid Starbucks, ride a bike to work, take a bag lunch to work, stop eating out, sell your stereo stuff, stop renting movies AND shorten your normal Christmas list and limit gifts to $25.oo gifts.

NOW, Bubba, you can keep BOTH of your handguns and feel good about it too!

I voted HK. But IMHO HK hasn't made a pistol worthy of the name HK since the P7.

Since money seems to be what you are after, the Colt is certainly more valuable then the HK.
The collectable value of firearms as with many things, is greatly less then what it has enjoyed.
So, the Colt is worth even less then it would have been given a stronger economy.
Now, if I had no idea how long it would be before I could replace either or, along with being well armed with a very reliable handgun, the choice is easy. Keep the HK.
Since typically the value in the Colt is in a condition being little fired as possibe, you could be giving up the handgun which allows for shooting enjoyment, to have a safe queen.
The liklihood of everything going to hell, and the need to depend on a handgun to defend yourself is little, still.......... Which one would you want to have at that time?

Further down the road, we all predict we will be better off financially. There will always be a chance to own a collectable firearm.

I would rather have a handgun I can use as much or as little as I like. For me, that would be the HK.
Oh, I own several Colt brand handguns, and no HKs right now.

I love the 1911 platform, but I wouldn't sell it. This is all dependent on the situation you said you need cash, how much cash you need? Not asking just saying, if you need a good chunk then sell the 1911, if just cash in the pocket then HK, good luck!

Post them both with the note that you will sell one or the other but not both. Sell whichever sells first and keep the other one.

That's actually the best idea in this thread so far.

                            Aside from keeping the 1911.

Sell the HK, look for ways to reduce spending and keep the Colt.

It's the caution triangle in the upper right of the post.

Back to the thread, I voted to sell the H&K. I love them, but they are a dime a dozen. However, I do feel you should keep the H&K and continue to use it as your personal carry. Keep in mind if you ever end up using it you need to be comfortable with giving it up for a while. Not sure I'd want the Colt entered in as evidence for who knows how long.
