.357 sig conversion for p226 .40S&w

Two questions for you , guys. Why do people prefer/like .357 sig? And Is there anything else that needs to be changed besides the barrel to have a dedicated .357sig handgun?

Since, I already have another .40, I'm thinking about just turning my p226 into .357 sig. I just wanna have another caliber variety.

I heard that when you change barrels, the sights need to be changed as well. Let me know if it's FUD.

you are gonna have a different POI, but between .40 and .357 sig, it shouldnt be too much. obviously, i dont have one yet, but from looking at all the info for the past few days, nobody has said anything about needing to swap springs or anything between .40 and .357, besides the barrel.

I bought my 226 in .357 Sig and later bought the .40 barrel. I only change the barrel when I change calibers and it shoots basically at the same POI. The .40 is more accurate in fact... (Or I shoot it better )

I have both 40 and 357 barrels for my P226. I'll be in the bay area (fremont) tomorrow if you want to meet up and try the 357

While technically true that the proper front sight (on a SIG P229 or P226) is different between .40S&W and 357SIG, in practical terms, it really isn't necessary, and no change out of the rear right is needed at all.

When SIG ships a P226 as a 357, they use a different front sight than they do when they ship a pistol in .40S&W, but again in practical terms, changing the barrel is the only thing you need to do.

I have had both my P229 and P226 at the range and swapped 40/357 barrels right there. If there is any real difference in POI at defense type ranges, I'm not skilled enough to get different results.

The recoil spring is the same regardless of .40 or 357, and the magazines are the same.

I would recommend becoming a savvy ammo shopper and to check your sources frequently as 357SIG ammo can be pricey, so it's good be diligent in looking for bargains and being prepared to jump when your stumble across them.

Two things that the 357Sig has over the .40 is a flatter trajectory and better penetration through barriers, while still limited in soft tissue...I find the 357SIG a softer shooting round

The 357Sig will have a different POI that the .40...your personal accuracy limitations will determine if you'll be able to notice it in your shooting. If the front sight is different from the factory, the POI change will be 1" at 25 yards for each numerical increment

Thanks for the input. So from what I understand .357 sig is a cross between .40s&w and .10mm but a little slimmer. It has good penetration and stopping. That's pretty cool.
