    ProMag magazines

I have heard bad things about ProMag magazines. Anybody hear the same or not had a problem with their ProMag magazines. I'm finding cheap mags for my Sig 228...too good to be true??
    thanks

I bought a variety of promags, they've all been junk. Better to spend the money on factory mags.

For the Sig, you can get Mec-Gar branded mags. They manufacture them for Sig, but if you buy them branded Mec-Gar they're less expensive. You can find some on CDNN most of the time.

I've heard a few times that Promags function fine if you use a quality follower like your OEM ones. For instance, get factory followers from Sig (they're often like $3 or something) and replace the Promag ones with them. Add $3-$4 per mag and they're still bargain priced.

I bought 2 10rd mags for my Mini-30. They would not even fit in the rifle.

Bought 4 for an out of production 9mm pistol & all four worked.

They would be my magazine of absolutely last resort. For the SIG stick with genuine SIG or MecGar. Cry once.

I've never used there handgun mags. I have a ar15 mag from them and it works fine but quite honestly just use mecgar or factory SIG. I even prefer Mecgar to factory Sig only because I like the finish but both will serve excellent.

I've got several MeCGAR for my hipower, p226 and p228. You guys are right., they are as good as or better then factory. Guess the promags are cheap for a reason.

                thanks

Can not speak for ProMag pistol mags, BUT I have a pile of them for my ARs and they are not reliable on one of the rifles, but work fine in the other. I stopped buying those and started buying the PMags.

I have 2 for my Bersa Thunder .380. They kind of work.

personally, spend the money and get real mags. Not worth the frustration.

I normally would not buy Promag, but while I was looking for mags for a Ruger LCP, I saw that they got excellent reviews. I bought two and they've worked flawlessly, just like the Ruger (Mecgar) mag.
