    SA EMP 9mm Review

I'm about to acquire one for myself. Does it require tuning by a gunsmith or are they reliable out of the box? Any other comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also done quite a few reading about it but just wanted to hear what NY fellow calgunners have to say. Thanks

    SA EMP

Probably my favorite pistol. I bought one for a ccw, and love it. I shoot it as well as my full sized 1911's. I'd seen one with the Alumagrips and really liked the look. Also had some magazines modified for flush fit. Great Gun!

I've been very happy with mine and it shares time with my Kahr CW9 depending if I feel like SAO or DAO that day...I haven't sent my magazines to modified yet

An EMP .40 will be my next pistol.

              Flush fit I think.

Yes, the magazines. Rather than having the extended base pad, like in the picture I posted, you can have a flush magazine like in tgil's pictures.

The modification requires that the magazine body be cut and the base plate welded back on...you lose one round of capacity

I had a EMP 40 but it had the stiffest recoil spring I ever saw. Could barely rack the slide. Very pretty piece just wasn't happy with it.

                  Love my EMP 9...

(not sure if he is on this board, but he is a socal local) Log_man on the 1911 forum is the person to contact if you like to have the magazine flush.

Love mine, have a bunch of rounds through it. A bunch of guys I work with bought them too. Probably 2 of 6 of us who bought them sent them back to be tuned up. It was free and quick turn around with Springfield. Basically issues with 147 gr hollow points. A little too long. They ran fine after the tune up. I never had issues, but I don't carry 147 grain hollow points.
Anyway you look at it, great gun and I'm not a huge Springfield fan

Love my EMP! Perfect out of the box. I did do a little bit of tinkering to make it "mine."

I just purchased one "for my wife" a few weeks ago and it has become my..I mean her favorite! I have run several hundred rounds of blazer brass, wwb, s&b police stuff and some PMC. Not one hiccup of ftf. Accurate enough, great ergonomics and just plain fun. I realize that I spent a lot on it and I am compelled to fix a few things; rounding the butt, blackout rear sight and single safety. I contacted logman over on the 1911 forums and am going to send him a couple mags to weld (if you are near O'side- maybe we can share a box and split shipping?).
