    which direction?

I always forget, and have run searches and get two different answers.
Which way do I drift the rear sight to correct for windage. If the gun is shooting left do your drift it left or right?

Move the REAR sight in the direction you want the bullet to go. If you want the bullet to move to the left, drift the rear sight to the left.

Exaggerate the drift to make it clear in your mind.

If you drifted the rear sight three inches left, where would the muzzle point?

If you drifted the rear sight three inches right, where would the muzzle point?

This 'trick' also works for elevation and front sights.

Bulb is getting a little dim

Thanks! Now if I could remember where I am, and who I am, I'd be ready to go!

Hahaha me and a fire guy (gun buff) at my work just had this convo. We both kept going back and forth and forgot which way it went. And say there for an hour trying to figure it out. Of course we both remembered when we both got home about from work.

              Easier than remembering... is thinking.

In Engineering, problems are usually first viewed from the perspective of either Zero (0) or Infinity (x^n) to try to understand them.

If you moved the rear sight a Foot (1'-0) to the Left... what would the do to your point of impact?

What if you moved the front sight to the Left a Foot (1'-0)...?

Remember to Think... and you can solve all kinds of problems.

Most don't have an engineers mind.

Engineers have analytical minds. They enjoy analyzing and solving problems.
The rest of just want to bang the damn thing with a hammer and be done with it. Many of us don't want to think about it, we just want to do it!

That's why we pay engineers big dollars to figure stuff out for the rest of us; like how to build a bridge, or design a circuit. That's also why my degree is in Park & Recreation Management and not Math or Engineering. My college roommates would be studying and I'd be watching TV. They'd get mad, and ask "don't you study", and I'd reply "I am studying I'm a REC. major".

                  Engineering Paradox:

The laws of Mathematics state that if you stand w/ your back against one wall of a room, ...and walk towards the wall on the opposite side of the room, ...covering half the remaining distance to that wall from the end of each previous move, ...you will never reach the other wall. (Y = X/2)

An Engineering student, however, ...starting from the same wall, ...covering half the remaining distance per move, ...w/ a drunk'n'naked coed against the opposite wall...?

...will eventually reach that opposite wall.

That's because you haven't graduated yet, gone to work, and realize that the rules of physics have no value in the business world governed by the rules of politics...... Don't confuse your boss with divergence and convergence

                      Think the joke goes...

"...and then when he was within arm's distance, the student suddenly yelled 'engineering approximation', reached out and grabbed hold..."

What I do to remember is make "V's" out of both hands. Extend one hand at arm's length and look through your "sights". If you adjust your rear "sight" one direction, you can easily tell that your "muzzle" must move the same direction to re-align your "sights". Thus, your POI will move the same direction you move your rear sight.
