    Glock 22 slide question

I am in the market for a new pistol and really like the glock 22. I saw one with the back of the slide looking like ")))))))" instead of "///////" does anyone know if that is on the new gen 4 glock rft2 at all or if not where can I get one? I searched around a bit and came up short. Any help is much appreciated!

First..Welcome to Cal Guns.!..A nice bunch of folks here..

Maybe..but they are rare because they are no longer in production.

Fish Gill slides with RT1 frames were discontinued last year. Turners had several on sale..(9MM) They actually weren't very popular.

          Here's a G17 available.

Glock meister sells GLOCK stuff (including slides) but they are always backordered and high priced...It's better to add a 100 bucks and get an entire used handgun..

          Be well

Actually, RTF1 is the normal Gen3 Glock, the RTF2 was the more aggressive texture that people usually refer to as the RTF finish. I actually have two G17 RTF2 handguns and I love them. The texture can be a bit rough on bare skin, but it feels fine in my hands.

RTF is what your talking about, there are not gen 4s. Gen 4 Glocks are never going to be available in CA new unless your a LEO or buy one from a LEO.

No, he's talking about RTF2, which is the Gen3 with a more aggressive version of the normal RTF that was applied to the Gen3 pistols.

Gen4 Glocks are not on the CA Roster, but can be purchased either 1) Used from an LEO or 2) Single Shot Exemption.

                        Glock frame textures...

The Gen 1 Glocks had a smooth frame texture.

The Gen 2 Glocks introduced the Rough Textured Frame (RTF).

The Gen 2.5 Glocks also used the RTF.

The Gen 3 Glocks also used the RTF.

Several years back, some LE agencies requsted a rougher texture for use in humid/wet enviroments.
So, Glock created a variant of the Gen 3 Glock utilizing the RTF2.
The initial run of the RTF2 Glocks also utilized curved slide serrations, which some people have nicknamed "fish gills".
Later productions of the RTF2 Glocks utilized the traditional vertical slide serrations, due to the "fish gills" not being recieved well by the consumer market for aesthetic reasons.
Last year, Glock discontinued the RTF2 Glocks. But, still offers it for LE/Gov/Mil contract sales.

The Gen 4 Glocks utilizes the RTF3.

The "Fiish Gills" are oriented/going the wrong direction and actually atributed to folks running off the back of the slide while working it. Turn them around and it'd be much more functional. Instead of running ((((((( they should have been )))))) catching the finger and thumb contours.

Hello cole125, welcome to calguns! The 2A fight is alive and well here, and many things have changed on the legal landscape here compared to five years ago. Based on your question regarding standard capacity magazines, and your post above, you will probably want to search "single shot exemption". Take a look at what this CA store in the Bay Area is selling, and is perfectly legal.
