keep your gun in your car when out driving? I'm not talking a range trip, just errands, back and forth to work type stuff. I have a SUV and I keep mine in the rear in a netbook soft case. It seems like I should have a bit closer to me when driving. Any thoughts on how you do it? Pics?

Without an LTC (formerly CCW), your only option is locked, unloaded carry. It needs to be unloaded and locked in a container other than your glove box or console. In an SUV, this is the only way, as you don't have the trunk option.

Move it up front with you. Perfectly legal. Mine sits on the floor in front of the passenger seat or on the seat depending on the neighborhood..

My Glock 29. In case of an E check I also (not required however) carry a copy of my DROS on the weapon. Under the G29. Might save time. You never know.

What am I missing? The units that I am seeing on their website fit inside of a factory center console. So, with the factory center console closed, there would be no outward indication of anything going on. Looks like a pretty slick product to me.

Figured it would be "out of sight, out of mind" in my case. I keep a fairly low profile too so no issue attracting undue attention. The briefcase isn't a viable option since that would look out of place in my line of work. Plus leaving a visible item in a car would attract the snatch and grab crew if seen, in my experience.

I had my ccw interview the other day,,,, they hammered me on everything! from what my brother inlaws told me it was nothing like theirs. Im a little worried Im going to get denined. Has anyone else taken these steps before?

My understanding was that you can only transport the weapon this way going to and from the range or hunting. You can not, say, go to Safeway with the weapon like this. I know u could argue that u were on your way to or from the range when pulled.

No worries. If you transport in a vehicle (PC 12026.1) there are no destination restrictions.

The destinations in 12026.2, for non-vehicle transport, look worrisome but really they don't seem to mean much. If one can carry unloaded openly (UOC), then one can also carry unloaded locked concealed (LUCC). And LUCC meets the PC 626.9 requirements for transport through a school zone.
