Lasers for Dry Fire Practicing Useful?

I'm finding that dry firing practice with my P226 has been a helpful in working on improving my grip and trigger control.

Then I came across this red laser system that allows you to pull the trigger, shoot a red laser beam at a target that then records your hits.

Anyone have experience with this, good, bad or indifferent? The laser bullet is about $80 and the target is $140.

    Thanks for any feedback

That looks pretty damn cool. I want one. I can't always find time for the range, but I can always find time to sneak into the garage.

You can also do the same thing if you have a regular laser sight by using a video camera with audio or a spotter/instructor.
9mm and 45acp are equally lousy. There's not a dime's worth of difference in REAL terminal ballistics. Get over it.

You can also accomplish the same practice with a regular laser sight. A video camera with audio or a spotter/instructor makes this method easier.

It's certainly not going to hurt.

I was looking into getting one of the SIRT pistols for myself and other people I train. If you can remove the noise and recoil, people train much better. There's also a lot of other benefits to the SIRT system, but if you're just talking about dry practice I'd say it's a system (the ones you linked) that more people should try.

Anything that gets you trigger time is a good thing.

But even a laser sight or boresighter will be helpful, as it will show you if you are flinching or pulling the barrel as you move the trigger.

I'd just do the wall drill and would not bother with buying a new gadget.

                    +1^^

I bought a laser to practice being smooth on the trigger.. But the problem is I concentrated on the dot projected on the wall rather than trying to be mentally focused on my sight picture while I break the trigger. I returned the laser.

I just got one of these systems and all I can say is it's as much fun as you can have in your living room without being naked

It'll take some time to see if there is a training benefit, but it certainly gives me an excuse to dry fire 2 or 3 times a day.
