    Late registration

Ok, I took a trip to J&G sales in AZ and bought 3 handguns face to face and returned to California but found out my P64 did not chamber correctley so with thier 30 day return policy they are shipping back my replacment P64.
However during this time my registration period of 5 days has turned int 14 because i dont have the serial number of the replacement gun yet so what if any is my penalty?

You don't state it, but I assume you have a C&R license? Otherwise you can't buy a post 1898 handgun out of state.

I may be wrong, but I believe if they're shipping a replacement pistol it needs to be DROS'd at an FFL so your question doesn't apply. Fortunately it apparently is on the C&R list despite being less than 50 years old so it is roster exempt.

Normally the time to register for self-imported C&R handguns starts ticking when the handgun enters the state, which you're replacement pistol has not done, but due to the requirement of using an FFL in California to receive C&R handguns not purchased face to face out of state with a C&R license it doesn't apply.

Yes i do have a C&R licence and since i faxed them a copy of my COE they used that as grounds to send me the gun as if it had been repaired since it was already in my possesion.
