Also good ammunition is very expensive compared to the crappy sporting ammo which is also expensive.
Also Elite Ammunition got raided by BATF this year and customer information was seized which is not cool at all.

Yes...but Elite is a good company. They sell several bullet and ammo types for the 5-7. One of them was considered armor piercing by the BATF.

So BATF suited up and raided Elite. They brought a Federal Court Order that allowed BATF to confiscate sales records (apparently to track down people who bought this hi perfomance ammo).

A bad deal.

My opinion, if you have the $ and want the weapon, then get it. I never let common sense or money provent me from buying guns..LOL.

Had one in ODG and loved it. Only sold it because I needed to come up with some quick cash, otherwise, I'd still have it. No more expensive to shoot than .45. The 5.7 is a wicked little round, especially if your using the Elite ammo which is loaded like the normal loading. Only drawbacks are the high initial buy in price, and the long grip front to back due to the length of the round.

why not? i'm kind of on the fence on this one, i like the fact that i think the wifey will like shooting this but i also feel its a bit of a toy.

so real world feedback helps a lot...

Keep in mind that even though it doesn't have a lot of recoil or muzzle rise, it does have a pretty good muzzle blast. The bullets may weigh the same but this is not like shooting a 22LR. As someone else suggested, I find a 9mm 1911 more pleasant to shoot.

I'd like to have one some day. Originally I was hoping HK would complete the UCP pistol and I was going to try to rechamber it from 4.6 to 5.7 as a project, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I wish they'd just rechamber the MP7 for 5.7 and that might drive down 5.7 prices a bit.

Love mine,, put a couple thousand rounds through it so far. Absolutly a kick to shoot.

As for the 10 round mag issue,, plagues every gun in California. I plan on moving to Idaho where I can use 20 and 30 rounders.

Reloading is not that hard. You just have to pay attention and double check powder to make sure you didnt double charge, easy enough. My reloads for this are way better than factory, much more "robust".

I carry the FiveSeven as well,, it's a full sized gun but very light. Carry IWB at 4:30 and it dissapears.

I bought one when they first came out. I really enjoyed the gun but cost of ammo was preventative in shooting it to often. I'd have to agree on the wife enjoying a 1911 in 9mm more though and it is less expensive to shoot. My fiancee didn't enjoy the FN5.7, the grip was to large for her hands, she really enjoyed her Sig 228 till she got a 1911 in 9mm and now she won't really shoot anything else, well except a 1911 in .45
