    Vol Registration

So I built my own AR pistol from an 80% lower and I am having it laser engraved with a S/N. I am thinking I should do a voluntary registration in case I am out shooting and get stopped by a LEO. Any thoughts? If I do register it will I need to send in picts of it with a 0 round sled in it? Do I need to hold on to it for 10 days before I give it to myself? (OK the last sentence is stupid but c'mon we live in PRK, home of stupid laws)

If your doing a serial number, might as well do everything (model, city and state, etc.)

    No

No. Just fill out the form. Where it says "acquired" I would check "other" and fill in "home built" or something.

Besides S/N I am having a logo, model, city, state, cal: multi, pistol, fire selector: safe, fire, happy.

        +1

Serial number alone does not meet BATFE requirements for a transfer, thus, would not likely meet DOJ requirements for VolReg.

Also, laser engraving may not be deep enough.

        Required is:
Manufacturer name (Your own first and last in the case of a homebuild)
        City/state/USA
        Model
        Serial number
        Caliber (may be "Multi")

The laser engraving does down to .005. I was going to use a made up manufacturer name, should I put my full name below it? Also, can I make up the model or does it have to be an industry norm model?

Model can be anything you'd like.
Since you are not a licensed manufacturer, your actual name must appear as the manufacturer.

For the rollmark, I'd caution against a fictitious business name unless it is one that you have legal ownership and rights to (since it may be trademarked by someone, somewhere)
