What are your favorite picks on holster manufacturers? Our company favorite is Safariland for quality and retention. We would like to hear your thoughts and feedback.

I think White Hat has a cool thing going. I have a Bladetech for my SP-01, which works perfectly well but maybe isn't god's gift to kydex holsters like a lot of people say. High Noon holsters are great.

Garret industries make the Silent Thunder Champion Kydex/Smooth Leather IDPA Holster. The Silent Thunder Champion is the speed cut version of the Silent Thunder OWB Holster for quick, smooth drawing of the firearm. The Sport Belt Slide is standard bringing the breech face to the center of the belt. The Silent Thunder Champion also has mount upgrades and/or additional mounts available. This is the holster of choice for GI's sponsored shooters.

Permanently lined with premium Hermann Oak Leather, the holster will protect your firearm from wear and provide a quick and "silent" draw. Reholstering is no problem with the durable Kydex outer shell and the combination of Kydex and leather will ensure a lifetime of use.

Garrett offers a Mount Upgrade during initial holster purchase. The Hi/Lo Belt Slide may be "swapped" out for another 360 degree capable mounting option and an upgrade charge applied. Ride options are available with some mounts; select Std for a typical ride or Sport to bring breechface to center of belt. Additional mounts may also be purchased under the Mounting Options and OWB Mounts sections.


Another "custom" option is the SweatShield which is handy for reholstering. SweatShield selections include FULL (to end of firearm); HALF (to within 1 1/2" from end of firearm); or NONE (top edges are "rolled" out to aid in reholstering and an additional charge will apply).

Lol I know people will get a hoot out of this but I'll go with Galco(it has worked for me so far). But only because I have not spent over $100 for a good quality holster YET. I plan to change that when I get my 3914/3913 or 908 in the near future for CC.

Most people don't like them, but I like my Serpa holster. I also like using Safariland holsters.

TexGrebner doesn't like Serpa holsters I think, he shot himself with one on YouTube and his training immediately kicked in and called his parents.


I don't know if I have a favorite holster I haven't bought enough to know if I have a favorite. I'm probably going to get a Safariland or Bladetech next but they seem kind of cheap looking to me I'd really like to get my hands on one of them.

It seems hard to balance simplicity with retention one of the main reasons I don't care for locking retention methods would be the possibility of locking your firearm in its holster.

The Trainer that shot himself on youtube using a SEPRA didn't blame the holster. He admitted he put his finger on trigger and disengaged the safety of his 1911 prematurely. He had been cross training with a holster that has a "Thumb Drive" style retention device. The thumb drives were designed for "slick sided" guns with no active safeties. When used with a 1911 pattern gun, it's been found that the safety in mistakenly disengaged when hitting the release lever. So he had a thumb drive grip on his gun using a SEPRA and ended up with a .45acp round in and out of his leg.
It's a poor craftsman that blames his equipment (this guy didn't).
I just don't understand putting a $600+ gun in a $20 nylon (one size fits most, especially the ones with a mag pouch in front of it) holster. I like my Bladetechs, but mine have no retention and are game holsters (IDPA) only. Deep concealment can get away with no retention, however any OWB holster considered for CCW needs some retention feature, other than friction. Let the flaming begin.....
