where can someone "test fire" different pistols?

so a friends girlfriend is looking into purchasing a pistol for personal protection, her line of work involves transporting cash and she has received a ccw and she is now looking into a firearm for protection, i have shown her some of my recomendations and she is still unsure, does anyone know of any places/ranges she can rent/test specific firearms? she is looking into sub compact 9mm or .380s, we are located in the orange county area.
any recomendations would be appreciated thank you

You local friendly psycho Calgunner with an arsenal.

Or a range, that works just as well.

One of the larger selections I've seen is from Insight Shooting Range in Artesia. I don't recall if they have sub-compacts so maybe give them a call.

.380 might be a hard caliber to find for rent, it's not very popular, especially with all the smaller 9mm guns. In fact, I'd recommend a 9mm because of how many great loadings they have now.

I have to agree with locosway; the .380 may not being easy to find at a range to try out. Besides, 9mm pistols come in every size now. Check out the Ruger LC9. It's CA approved and cheap enought not to break the bank. Good luck

wait a darn tootin minute.... HOW IN THE WORLD DID SHE GET A CCW!!!!

my current ccw weapon i use for my business is a Ruger LC9, but let me warn you alot of pratice is required with this pistol to make it effective. The trigger is something that needs to be used to, it's long heavy, and breaks far back.

I just acquired the Lc9 and it is a great pistol. 9mm is everywhere and cheap to boot. Very nice concealable gun!

The indoor range in Brea has sevral for rent. I noticed a slew of handguns for rent at Oaktree. Its a bit farther drive but it is an outdoor range with fun targets if you are not liking some dood with a .44 on your right and another yahoo on your left shooting 15 rounds at his target hanger splattering you with fragments and raining caseings while breathing in heavy metal fumes.

                      ^^^^^^^^ http://www.ocindoorrange.com/

This is a smaller range. Lot less chance of getting some bonehead shooting his .44 mag with hot loads.

If she likes .380, have her try a Bersa Thunder. I really like mine. Not exactly a Sub-Compact, but accurate, reliable, and fun to shoot.

Not sure if you're willing to drive this far but Oak Tree Gun Club in Valencia has a rather large selection of pistols for rent. You pay a flat fee and you can shoot however number of pistols you want. When you're done with one, take it back and get another one. All you have to do is pay for your ammo.

Move to Sac County, easier to get a CCW.
