    FNP 45 reviews/ owners

I know its not on the "approved" list, but I also know there are people out there that have them, and they can be sold in single shot configuration.

My question is does anyone have one that they have shot quite a bit and have any reviews good or bad about it?

I have wanted one for a little while now, but I am a firm believer of shooting one first. If there is someone in the north county area that has one and would meet up at the range for a shoot, I'd be more than willing to work something out.

    Thanks

I had one when they first came out and put maybe 200 rounds thorugh it before selling it.

    PROS:
    - magazine capacity
    - interchangeable backstrap
    - recoil (pretty soft shooting 45 if I remember)
    - accuracy (I shot it better than both my G21 and USP 45.)
    - ambi controls

    CONS:
    - After market support (at the time it was near impossible to find a decent holster for one, now I'm sure there are more options but not near as many as other guns.)
    - the decocker (the decocker worked well, my complaint was the placement. I'm a right handed shooter and shoot with a thumbs forward grip as high up on the tang as I can. The decocker ended up resting right on top of my right thumb, just where there is no "meat" just skin and bone. The recoil was good for a 45, but just the constant rubbing of the decocker on my thumb, coupled with the jolts after shooting, was enough to irritate me enough that after two range sessions I was done with it and sold it)

I'd definately handle one first before buying. I know some people have no problem with them and love them. Others have simply changed their grip with it, I wasn't willing to do that.

It's a great gun and shoots as good as a 'Off the Rack' sub-$1000 1911, but with double the capacity.

U should search fnp 45 mags that have issues with certain ammo, OAL...specifically WWB FMJ.

          Good reads

I have 1400 rounds fired with mine, I really like it. It is a large gun with a good size grip. I also shoot with a high grip thumbs forward and do not have the same problem as the other poster with the safety (I only use the gun in single action, never decock). I have fairly large hands. It is very very accurate and as others have said a soft shooter, double taps and mag evac with this gun are a breeze.

They do not like lite power rounds, I had to up the powder charge in my reloads to get them to function reliable in the gun. With the amount of rounds they carry you will want to reload, you will go though allot of .45 ACP.

Next to 1911s it is my favorite .45. Some eye candy for you.

^^^I use Miwall reloads and they wouldn't cycle consistently in it. The reloads work in every other 45 I have shot them in and I pretty much only shoot Miwall through my guns, but for some reason the FNP didn't like them and I wasn't going to start buying factory ammo for one gun so I sold it. Also there have been plenty of people stating over on Ar15.com of problems with magazines. The mags are also like $45 if you can even find them. I had to buy a universal Safariland holster to fit it (another $50). Wish it had functioned well for me, great looking and feeling gun with the rubber Hogue sleeve.
Fallujah had become a magnet for foreign jihadists and there were several thousand in the city who had come to make martyrs of themselves, to die while killing as many Americans as possibleAt each house I said a prayer, 'Please God get me out of this one.' When I come out of the house, I thank Him, light up a cigarette and move on to the next onesigpic

I have the .40 but the same problem as til44 with the decocker. With my thumbs forward grip I would constantly decock every couple rounds. Very annoying. Other than that it's a great pistol. Very accurate.

I deparately wanted one until I read about the reliability issues. No duty/combat weapon should have any problems with running wwb.

No duty weapon should be running FMJ ball ammunition, so what's your point?

Because it was designed as a duty combat weapon, it was made to function with hotter ammo. Good self defense and hardball not designed to lessen recoil for competition will run all day in my gun. I do not shoot WWB so I cant say.

Beauty is very subjective, and in my opinion does not apply to weapons. I maintain a very high grip with my support hand and because of it could not decock the gun while shooting if I tried. Personally I wish the gun did not have the decock feature, but even so it does not interfere with my single action only operation of the weapon.

I bought mine about 18 months ago for right around $620.00 out the door. My ffl gave me a pretty good deal, it also came with a shooters pack. Training barrel, blade tech holster and dual mag case.

The color is actually FDE, the camera made it apear darker then it is. Here is a pic with some OD Glock and XD's, more its real color.
