    Handgun buying situation

So check this out, I am all set to be attending the Napa Police academy in nov. The gun they use is the S&W .40 MP. SO i went arround trying to find one..well I couldnt so i decided on a different gun, the Glock 17. So I put down my 200 bucks on it and start my 10 day wait. Well on my 8th day low and behold I find a MP. SO I put my 200 bucks on it and am told I can start paperwork for it in 22 days.

Heres my situation I dont want the glock anymore, and I dont have enough money to get both guns.
Is there any law that says I can tell the owner he can keep my deposit, and sell the gun, or am I forced to buy it?

No law against it. You might want to call the DOJ and ask them if you cancel the first DROS whether you can proceed with the second before the thirty days. The law says "No person shall make an applicaion to purchase more than one handgun...within any 30-day period". I really don't know how that would be applied to a cancelled DROS.

Who lets you put down 200 and pay the rest when the 10 days is up? I like the layaway option, but didn't think it was very common. And they let you DROS it before the balance was paid?

City Arms in Pacifica and Pleasant Hill will let you put down half and pay the other half upon pick up...never heard of just $200.....

Some places will charge a fee to cancel a deposit on a gun. Turners does...That is why when I make a decision, I do not change my mind after. Cancel and get the M&P. The Glock really is just ok compared to the M&P...That is my opinion and I am sticking by it.

if your willing to lose 200 why not give us a chance. Let someone else pay the rest of it and give you fifty for the deal. I'm pretty sure i'd jump on that deal.

By the way Martin B Rettings let you do zero down or how much you want down. Last time i was there i picked up a pm9 and put down 100. once dros was done i paid the balance.

I'd say keep both. One for duty and the other for back up. Less hassle.

I did something similar with online auctions. I bid on a Ruger GP100 and then saw a better one with some accessories and bid on that one too. I ended up winning both auctions and had to use a credit card to pay for one of them. Both were shipped to my FFL transfer dealer and he held one for 30 days while the first was DROS'ed. I picked the best, kept the accessories and sold the second gun for a slight loss. The sale only took a couple days and I had the money to pay off the credit card.

You could just sell the glock. You will probably end up ahead money wise compared to losing $200 deposit
