    Are Kimber Mags still junk?

I recently bought a Kimber Custom II and I haven't purchased any additional mags yet. My question isn't which mags to get for it, but rather is the stock magazine somehow junk? I've heard many reviews of the stock Kimber Mags not even worth using, however all the research I've been able to find is a few years old. It seems there aren't any recent evaluations of the 7 round kimber mags. I've only put around 300 rounds through the gun so far, but I haven't had any problems yet. The only FTF was when I released the slide(slingshot style) on a mag and it didn't feed all the way, but I might have rode the slide a bit. Otherwise it has been flawless.

Does anyone have any input or their own personal evaluations of these mags? It's easier for me to find kimber mags locally than the ones I want (powermags). Are they worth buying? Is the stock one worth keeping/using?

        Yes... Kimber magazines are junk.

I own two Kimbers; Ultra CDP II and Tactical Custom II...,

Have several Wilson Combat magazines for both... I store the original Kimber
magazines in the original box... never use them.

Send all Kimber magazines to me . . . I would not want you to risk using them!

I've never had an issue with Kimber magazines, but if I was going to buy new ones i'd get Wilson Combat.

Mine look like c@#p but work

They look bad, but mine work. There are other budget priced magazines like MecGar that look and work fine. Along with my Kimber, Metal-form, Colt and MecGar I have a few Wilson and CM Shooting Star, that I really like.

I've had to replace the factory spring and clean up the follower on some new Kimbers, but I'll also take any you want to give away in .45 .38S and 9mm.

I never gave mine a chance. I just bought some Chip McCormicks and never looked back.

Should I be able to shoot Semi wadcutters out of my kimber with the stock mag or any mag for that matter? I've got 500 laying around that I got for a good deal, and they do nothing but jam in my XD. I know the real test for mags is what kind of ammo they can feed reliably. Anyone shoot SWC out of their 1911?

Kim Pro mags are great. They have a Teflon coated follower and can be bought for about $18 each online. Never have had a malfuction using those.

                            no issues

Nope I own one 7 round stock and 2 chip star 8 rounders and have 0 failures with any of em.

As a side note though I find kimbers to function flawlessly when using the slide stop but not very reliable when hand cycling or using the "sling shot' method at least with Gold Dots.

The factory 7rd blue mags that come with Kimbers suck, but they work. The finish fades and comes off easily.

The 8rd KimPro Tac mags you can buy for $16 work great. They come with additional base pads for them.
