    Shooting compact and sub-compact Glocks

I have both a G19 and a G26 and like them booth. I have owned the G19 about a year longer than the G26 and have spent much more range time with it but I find myself shooting better with my new G26. I just bought the G26 and it looks like my first grouping with the G26 is better than any I have ever shot with the G19, I don't understand . Has anyone ever experienced this or it just me? Which do you shot better Glock compacts or the sub-compact?

I shot the 19 better than I did the 17 for a while. Never shot anything smaller than a 19. But it happens. I grew out of it. Just keep shooting with your 19 if you really want great groups. If not stick with your 26. Thats not a bad thing at all it groups better.

Like me it ws probably your grip. Once I found a better grip on the 17 it was game over.

I have had the opposite reaction. The felt recoil on my 27 is greater so I am usually all shaky after a dozen rounds or so, that's usually when I switch back to my compact.

take any pics of the grouping?

I shoot my Gen 3 G19 the best. But I shoot my Gen 3 G26 better & more accurately than my Gen 4 G19. Go figure.

            same for me,
better groupings on my 27 compared to my 23,
my groupings from my 30sf were comparable to the 27, being better than the 23 also.
maybe its as simple as more better grip or something

Alot of people do notice that they shoot sub compact models with dual recoil springs better than the compact/full size models. You're not the only one. I believe i remember skimming an article by Massad Ayoob about this....

I shoot my G26 better than full size auto's. Don't know why but i'm not complaining.

I originally was going to make my G19 my "go to gun/HD gun" but now I think it will be the G26. The G19 will be the BLING BLING/ wall flower gun with the mods and the G26 the work horse. I though it was just me but you won't hear me complaining.

It my be the dual recoil spring that allows better recoil recovery for follow up shots, perhaps thats why all the Gen4 have it.

I've noticed that many shooters do better with compacts/subcompacts than their full size pistols. I'd hazard a guess that they're concerned with the fact that it's a compact pistol and therefore try harder and pay more attention to the basics - grip, sight picture/alignment and trigger squeeze. I've noticed the same phenomenon with shooters firing unfamiliar firearms. That's my .02 anyway.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I've found that I shoot better with the G26 and G17 (which I've rented) than I do with the G19 that I own. I believe it has something to do with where the Glock "hump" hits my palm. On the full size it's farther down since the grip is longer, so it doesn't interfere much with my grip; on the subcompact it fits nicely right into the center of my palm. Both of these point much more naturally for me than the compact.

I've actually decided to have Lane from Cold Bore Customs do a grip reduction and stipple job on the frame; it'll do away with the hump altogether. Basically it should look like this:

I love the size of the G19, and it's been pretty much flawless for me for thousands of rounds, so I figure why not modify it to fit me better? As always, YMMV.

I have a 17 and a 26. I shoot better with the 17, but since I carry the 26 every day and have been practicing with it more, my accuracy gap between the two is closing.
                            Slow justice is no justice.

I was shooting a Glock when shooting a Glock wasn't cool.
