    Compact 1911

I was interested in getting an officers size 1911. So what are my choices? The Kimber is too much for me nearly $900. If I could find a Colt Officers or Compact in the $500-$600 range I'd be happy. I can't seem to find Springfield's version since the catalog doesn't have the codes so I can match them up with the roster. Another I have contemplated is the RIA since it's in my price range. Any Ideas?

Ultimately I wish I could get this.

The RIA is a solid gun. That's a great gun for that price range.

Springield's officers sized grips are the mirco-compact with 3" barrel and ultra-compact with 3.5" barrel.

for 5-600 pretty much your only option is the RIA unless you single shot something else...I would save up a little more and try and find a nice used Colt, if I remember correctly the Springfield Range Officer is a CCO (concealed carry officer)

FWIW I'm looking for an officer model that I can stick a commander slide on, that will come after my Nighthawk though

range officer is gov, nighthawk makes the t3, colt makes cco's but colts in general are expensive. my wife likes building cco's but we've been hit kinda hard with health stuff.
sig makes cool cco's, they call them c3 i think.
best advice for u: single shot ffl.

Colt CCO's are also hard to come by, but in general, Colt products are very well made

I got the one with a beavertail and GI sights for 425 OTD. I love my RIA compact, fun to shoot, and precise. Only self defense gun I ever felt like trying 25 @ yards. Haven't had any of the reliability issues that I was told Officer's models often exhibit, although it is in the shop.

most reliability issues with 1911's are operator induced, especially compacts
