    Franklin Arms XO-26

    Some consider this a pistol....

Mods - please move if deemed necessary.

Has any CalGunner purchased and or shot this bad boy?

If so...any review - or direction to a review would be welcome.

    I am considering purchase.

    Thanks in advance.

You get what you pay for. Keep in mind that Atlantic is quoting wholesale prices. You still are on the hook for shipping and transfer fees. Even then, it's not a chrome lined or Salt Bath Nitride barrel. Compare the specs side by side.

The XO-26 in 5.56 NATO has a lot of features for it's $1600 MSRP. (We also have it in 7.62x39 and 450 Bushmaster.) We have heard comments from other folks that we created a Cadillac and they really just wanted a Chevy, so we listened and launched the XO-26b model. It still features the quality Salt Bath Nitride barrel, receiver set screw tensioner, and Franklin Armory single stage trigger, but it utilizes a Magpul handguard instead of a specter length rail. The MSRP on this model is $1149.99.

      Here's a link to a brochure: http://www.franklinarmory.com/XO-26b...nnouncment.pdf

One last thing to consider is that we build and warranty our products right here in California. It is unlikely that you would ever have an issue with our firearms since our return rate is 0.6%, but if you did, you would not have to ship it far.

Isn't a difference, in CA, between the XO (with brake instead of FH) that it can be used with detach magazines, hi caps or 10 rounders, while the AR handgun can not?

Perhaps in an a state that uses a Federal AW style ban, but not here! Here is the section of 12276.1 PC that covers that:

          (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a
detachable magazine and any one of the following:
          (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor,
          forward handgrip, or silencer.
          (B) A second handgrip.
          (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely
encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon
without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the
          barrel.
          (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location
          outside of the pistol grip.

And, even though the feds call the XO an "other," the state defines it as a "pistol" per 12001 PC.

            shot it.. in 7.62
shoots way better than you think and being gas operarted...it functions well... at least with brass cased ammo.... it shoots from the cheek way more better than you could imagine... esp with an eotech/aimpoint....

I think, as one who teaches this stuff... and although I will confess to not being a navysealrangerswatninja....I might have picked something up over 30 years of teaching people to shoot guns in defensive context..and having had clients who had to shoot people in context....after said training.... perhaps I might have picked something up via osmosis....

this XO-26 - is a really good weapon for home defense...and especially so for someone who has difficulty shooting a handgun well... really this is a very powerful firearm compared to a handgun... esp in 7.62 with the corbon grenade type bullets...so, a very viable gun what you could mount a light on, and learn to do corners with and if you had a fight in your living room with it that lasted more than 10 rounds, then you could actually learn to reload it and stuff but maybe you could really hit well with it instead of miss with it which is maybe the point afterall and if you shoot it really well... and you don't miss and you are like safe/alive/etc after a big hairy furball of a fight in your office/living room..then what price is too much to pay for a defensive weapon...?
Greebo, as a matter of feline pride, would attempt to fight or rape absolutely anything, up to and including a four-horse logging wagon. Ferocious dogs would whine and hide under the stairs when Greebo sauntered down the street. Foxes Kept away from the village. Wolves made a detour. Terry Pratchett

SICK! I've been considering the XO-26, but since I consider it more of a novelty compared to a featureless AR rifle, the price has been what has kept me from pulling out the wallet. B models seems more to my liking.
