    Glock 17 gen4 range report

My accuracy sucks, but it has definitely gotten better in the last month or so. The gun shoots like a champ, I love trigger and the grip. Didn't jam on me once. My after about 100 rounds, I got pretty comfortable and started getting decent groups.
Only have one issue and it's a big one. The brass kept hitting me in the face !!! The extractor is all effed up and it's a brand new gun. Someone at the ranger told me that I should take it to a gunsmith to tweak the extractor and it should stop doing it. Kinda disappointed, any suggestions ?
Other wise, I love the gun!

I read something about changing out to the Lone Wolf extractor helping to solve this problem. Cheap part and easy to do so give it a go.

The reason the brass is not flying out is because of the recoil spring.

On the GEN 3 Glocks we can actually change springs and notice the different distance the empty's touch down. I think the GEN 4s have a dual spring instead of the single spring. Just buy this retainer and install a normal (lol) spring.

May the Bridges I burn light the way.

I don't own a gen 4, but my gen 3's will reliably hit me in the face when I hold them with a weak grip. Congrats on the G17

Will it ever stop? The hot brass was flying straight in my eyes(thank god for my oakleys)

Change your extractor to a LWD, call Glock and ask them to send you the most recent RSA. Try this first, as this solves most Glock Gen4 sending brass into your sniffer.

I'd say check your grip before you start buying stuff

I've never once had this problem on my Gen 4 G22, she handles like a dream & I've put a couple hundred rounds through her. Yes, they have a dual spring in them & it does help, maybe not substantially but it does help with recoil. For Panda I would check your grip as has been said before, before spending money on a fix.

But a good purchase & enjoy your new addition!

I noticed a Federal Champion box in one of your pics. That ammo is on the weaker side of the spectrum that may cause the brass to eject to your face. Try a box of hotter ammo like Winchester Nato or any home defense round and see if it still happens.

Time and shooting should also loosen up that recoil spring so it will stop doing it. If not, then get the new spring assembly from Glock (if yours doesn't have it already) and see if that helps.

My new Gen 3 G17 tossed the brass right on top of my head no matter how stiff my grip was (i.e. not limp wristing). After about 200 rounds, it started ejecting to the right and behind without fail so yours may just need to break in a bit. Otherwise, as others mentioned, make sure you are not limp wristing as that will affect the brass ejection for sure.

Oh BTW nice gun! My G17 is my new nightstand gun and so far I really like it

I vote extractor as well. Newer Glocks, Gen 3 included have MIM extractors that can result in not the perfect fit. My G34 had extraction issues and I bought a Lone Wolf one.. its been perfect ever since.

It wasn't until I got burned under my eye before I figured something has to change (I mostly ignored the brass hitting my head). A casing went from the top of my safety glasses and got lodged between the bottom of my safety glasses and cheek.

I shot two kinds of ammo, that federal ammo from walmart and remington nickel plated 9mm. Its most likely the extractor. That sucks.
