    9mm 1911

    I would really, really like a 1911.

I would like it to be 9mm.

I would like a stainless finish.

I would like to spend less than $850.

RIA is a great value, but it's not on the CA approved list (screw that list).

Springfield is a beautiful gun, but it's a little pricey.

Anything else out there? I've pretty much eliminated Taurus based on reputation.

    Thoughts and feedback appreciated!

You can single shot exempt the RIA.

I had the springfield stainless full size 9mm target 1911... it was so easy to shoot and never failed. It was worth it for a range gun.. a bit heavy to carry all day for a carry gun.

I wish SW made a 9mm Scandium Framed Commander... I have the 45acp version and love it. It would be excellent in 9mm...

Given your criteria, single shot exempt RIA is pretty much the only way you're going to get it.

I looked at the single shot process. Kind of seems like a pain in the ***. What's the cost associated with it typically?

Who in the SD area is willing to do it?

              Thanks again!

I have a SA 1911 Loaded/Target in 9mm. It's put together nicely considering it is an out of the box gun. The ILS has to go with the heavy mainspring and changing the titanium firing pin to a regular steel is a must. It is my favorite 1911 range gun.

Try Direct Action Solutions in Solana Beach. They're the only place in SD that I know of that does single shot conversions and are pretty cool guys.

Good luck finding one for under $850. Unless you buy used, I doubt you'll spend less than $950 OTD.

Totally agree with you on the ILS and mainspring. 8# wolff spring was the perfect replacement.

What does replacing the firing pin to a steel one do for the gun??

Did you guys notice any improvement in the trigger by deleting the ILS?

I think replacing the ILS is more of what if it fails? The pistol locks up and is useless until repaired or replaced.
