Loaded Chamber Indicators. Do they make us more safe? Less safe? Or no difference?

It was a feel-good device to please those who don't know how to use a gun. I hate LCI. I don't trust them, don't need them. There is no need if you follow the rules. Loaded or unloaded a firearm should never be pointed at anyone and your finger should never be on the trigger even if you clear it 100 times. Follow these rules and you won't have a problem.

This pretty much matches my view on the issue. The LCI on my Kimber Custom II is just a little notch, which is hard to see, so I do a press check to visually inspect what is in the chamber.

Loaded chamber indicators, magazine disconnects: just feel good requirements that cannot take the place of competency in gun handling.
