Like any sport, it's not about the equipment, it's about who's willing to pay more.

This is what I'm thinking. Also from Glock's past competitors.. I know some have left (Jesse Abbate?) because they were seen competing with other guns and Glock totally got on their case.

Personally.. I wouldn't be surprised if Springfield put all their eggs into Dave Sevigny as it'd make sense seeing how they have the XDm Comp now. Big competition-line release for them and needs big-time promotion. Not to mention, I know Dave Sev likes to shoot 1911s too and owns custom Springfield 1911s in his collection. Would make sense for both parties.

This is the truth, Glock does not pay well per an ex-Glock rep and people who competes heavily. You get tons of perks, but you need $$$ to pay the bills.

yeah, but still ... getting paid to shoot! (And it's fun shooting too, nobody is in danger and nobody is shooting back at you!) What a dream (retirement) job this would be!

you almost have to considering the cost in
                        1. travel, hotel and food
                        2. Gear/equipment (belt and holsters, mags, slings, optics, etc.)
                        3. Gun's (including match grade barrels and triggers)
                        4. Ammo for practice and competition.

Not to may people can afford all of this and compete on a regular basis unless they are sponsored.

One guy i would say that is loyal (on the top of my head) is a guy by the name of Rob Leatham. He's been with springfield for a while

If Springfield's customer service is any signs of how they treat their employees (Happy employees lead to good customer service).. I'm guessing Springfield gives plenty of reason for Rob to stay.

You guys have to remember that it's not your sponsorships that pay you it's your ranking that gets you those sponsorships. Chances are Dave isnt just going for more money but for a better pistol to compete with to keep that ranking. I love my Glocks but if I was competing brand loyalty be damned I want the best most configurable tool to win and if shooting a 1911 platform would make me a better shot than so be it.

Incorrect as he already competes in different categories including single stack divisions with 1911's and I believe a .22 handgun. You don't make much off matches, nor your sponsors.
