All stock they are great shooters out of the box but,

If you got it for CCW,just some night sights and shoot the hell out of it. I have a subcompact 9 that is bone stock other than night sights with 4500+ rounds throught it. Most of those rounds were shot at IDPA matches.

If you got it for comp shooting or just plinkin,Springer Precision has all the goodies you will need. I have a 9mm Tactical I put together for IDPA with their trigger kit,extended mag release,and Tru Glo sights with about 1500 rounds through it.

I live in sacramneto county, so my likeliness of getting a CCW is very slim.

I've been reading about night sights and those will probably be my first upgrade. I do eventually want to do some competition shooting with my XD once I get use to it.

Night sites make a huge difference. Metro-lights are my favorite for the XD line.
There is also a great aftermarket trigger kit that reduces that 1/2 travel to about 1/8" Not for the DYI crowd as it typically takes some careful fitting to make everything work right.
