Sig P232 or PPK?

I've been always a fan of the PPK from the bond films. So I always knew I would get one. Im definitely leaning towards the stainless option but I can't seem to decided between the modern p232 or the original bond ppk.

I;ve searched and I found some outdated threads regarding magazine issues for the p232.

Any owners out there want to chime in between the two.

We have the S & W PPK 380. Excellent trigger but not quite broken in. If I had to do it over again I would have spent the extra money on the Sig 232. I won't sell our S & W PPK- it's a fine pistol. Our PPK just needs some fine tuning where the Sig 232 may not. Just my .02

A friend of mine just got a 232 and loves it. Which may or may not mean the mag issues are resolved.

You could also consider a Bersa Thunder .380. Same basic look, lower price, and they get very high marks from most who have them.

Not sure if the mag issues were just with the P232 but the P230 i used to own was flawless. One of the main differences of the two is the mag release. The P232 has a heel release while the PPK has the push button mag release.

Couldn't agree more. As much as I like the Walther PPK for both it's history and classic lines, I prefer the 232 for actually shooting.

I own zero handguns with slide-mounted safeties these days. It's just counter-productive for me since I shoot 1911's so much. Even my Walther is a P5compact without a slide mounted safety.

I went with a P230 years ago over the PPK. The Sig fits my hand better and more importantly, does not "bite" as much as the PPK which almost pinches the web of my hand. The PPK looks good but feels a bit clunkier than the slick P230/232.

I don't know what the magazine issue is or was but my P230 has never failed. The heel catch magazine latch is not a big deal to me. These small .380s are not gunfight guns. They are meant to be "belly guns" or just enough to get you out of a jam or to other more potent guns.

Get an Interarmd PPK. They are out there, and while I'd say get an older Euro piece that gets harder. The current SW maybe is better then the first ones, but with the older Interarms pistols I think you'll enjoy more.

I retract my statement earlier. The sig p230/2 is a fine pistol and I would love to own one BUT the PPK has the frame mounted magazine release which the p230/2 doesn't. I would find it very had to use the sig as a carry weapon with the magazine release being in the European position.

I say get a used PPK or Bersa. Unless you are OK with the European style magazine release.

leaning more towards the p230/2 now. Also I have no plans on the whole carrying concept I just want a bond gun. But I felt bad for cheating a little and opting for the newer p232. THanks for the input guys.

Both magazine releases are frame mounted. You mean that the PPK has a thumb magazine release, and the P230/2 has a heel release?

Lol. Yes, The p230/2 has a European style magazine release.

I owned a p232 for about a year before I sold it. Picked it up at Tuners when they had a bunch of police trade in's for sale. For the time I had it, it ran flawless. Only reason I sold it was I decided to scale down on the amount of caliber's I wanted to stock and since that was my only 380 it was the first to go.
