As much as I think SIG builds a great pistol all these limited runs of essentially the same gun have me thinking they really don't do much pistol R&D anymore. They just add a few minor things, get a .gov contract and build a special commemorative version so they can jack up the price. Hopefully this is a sign all their R&D is going into building a civi version of the SIG 55X.

I think there already is one, but because they are made overseas, and because of the 10 part rule, you cannot bring them into the US.Originally posted by BigALHopefully this is a sign all their R&D is going into building a civi version of the SIG 55X.

I'm sure they're still doing plenty of R&D (it's a competitive marketplace out there). What you are seeing is a common marketing tactic that companies use to get you to buy more of something you already have.Comment

True. But rumors abound that SIG will be making a US version at their Exeter, NH plant, thus bypassing the import regulations. Might just be yearly SHOT Show hysteria but I know of at least one SIG/Blaser dealer on another forum who is organizing a group buy already.Comment

That 229 Equinox does look pretty cool...Come to think of it, the only things I really liked about the Homeland edition were the engraved american flag (cool touch I thought) and the rail. Does the equinox come standard with the rail and is it on the Cal list?Comment
