Little help please, and quick. I have to pick between the two, which shall it be? I'm not a collector, I just want one that will perform well when I need it to.

Sig P225 german police or P239?
Tags: None -
p225 without a second thought. imo, it's definitely the more desireable of the pair. just be sure to run at least a couple boxes of your choice in defense ammo through it.Originally posted by GraybeardSeriously the quality of some of the posts on here has gone waaaaayyyyyy downOriginally posted by cannonYou have not been here long enough to see how low they can really go. -
Definitely go with the P225 German Police Pistol regardless if your a collector or not. Can't beat the old school folded slide Sigs. These should have 3 magazines and Siglites straight from the factory.Comment

Both will... But I wish I had a P225. I'm trying to get my Sgt to sell me his."Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."~M.Twain~Comment

If you go the 225 route make sure it has a newer (post 1985ish) barrel, because the older ones won't feed HP ammo.
The new production of recently imported 225's all have new barrels so there is no issue there, but if you are looking at the police trade-ins that are being imported then keep an eye on the manufacturing dates.Comment

In a choice between the two I would pick the P239-9. P239 with it's bobbed hammer is more compact with 8 round magazine and can use extended 10 round magazine.
I find the P239 SA trigger pull to be at 4lbs."If 5% of Ducks could shoot back, would you go Duck hunting?"Comment

I own neither. But I would have picked 239. Nothing is wrong with the 225, just that 239 is newer model that is designed to work with all sort of ammo, and cheaper, or larger capacity magazine can be found. 225 can be bought for cheap, but the last time I check ( a year ago), magazines cost twice as much ... With all that said, either one will serve you well.Comment

You don't specify what your intended use is. The P239 is pretty small. Will you be happy shooting that rather than the larger P225 if you are not intending to carry concealed?
You might also try renting a P229 at a range if you have that option.Comment

It'll be for carry. My understanding is the P225 was the same dimension as that of the P239. Is my information incorrect?Comment

225 all day and twice on Sunday. ;-) I just got one and it is very nice.

I would have to concur with the others for the P225. While dimensionally it's very similar for some reason the P225/P6 fits me better. How so, I'm not so sure.Comment

I think the grip is shorter and the slide is about half an inch shorter. If someone has both for comparison I'm happy to have them correct me (or if you've already compared them side by side your own judgement trumps everything else).
I have shot the 239 and it seems pretty small to me, but that would make it a good choice for carry.Comment
