Glock 36 questions

Anyone own a Glock 36? It really has me interested but I read that its the worst model they make. The size has me interested for CCW and would love to know if any of you have one and carry it.

I own a G36. (.45acp) IMHO, it's not the worst Glock, but it is Glocks least popular model due to a limited single stack round capacity - 6+1. There are NO extended round magazines.

Accuracy with the poly bore barrel is quite good and clean up is a snap.

The G36 is a bit longer than the G26. Both are easy to work on and parts are readily available.

I have a 23 and have shot IDPA and IPSC with a 19 so I am very comfortable with that set up. I dont think Ill have an issue with the smaller model. The 6+1 is a slight turn off but the slim stature of the pistol has me intrigued. How is the recoil? I have fired the Micro version of the 1911 you think it compares?

Not bad; a bit "snappier" than the 30, but plenty manageable for a .45 you can practically hide in your hand.

I like my G36. It works with G19 holsters. I initially wanted the G30 but it was way too bulky for me so I went with the G36. Shoots good and is lightweight.

The 30sf has a noticeably different feel in my hand, and the first Glock I bought. A fellow CG'r had the 30 for sale here at a good price, so why not?

Um, no you have not put a G21 magazine in a G36 pistol.

Yeah, this is wrong info about the G21 mags...they do not fit. The plus 1 extensions work very well, however. I put them on my spare mags...gives me a full grip and extra round. G36 is a great Glock and much nicer all day IWB than the also-awesome G30. Lately, I've really been liking the G33, though. 357 Sig is a fun, powerful caliber and the 33 gives you a small frame with full double stack capacity. Recoil is IMO not an issue with any of these Glocks.

The 36 is, for me, the perfect concealed carry semi-auto. It has everything. Tiny, thin, large caliber, manageable recoil, accurate, relaiable, striker fired, it's awesome. I am mainly a revolver guy and used to having only 6 rounds available so the fact that I have 7 (6 in mag, 1 in tube) in the 36 makes it a luxury for me. I use the +0 grip extensions, I feel the +1 grip extensions make the gun too big and negate it's CCW advantages. Some grip tape, new sights, CT laser, grip extension, extended slide lever and bingo....CCW perfection. I can not recommend it enough.

It can be hard for some shooters to handle because of the light frame and small grip. They've been known to have stove-pipe and FTF jams because they're more prone to limp-wristing. That said, go shoot one. I've shot them quite a bit and never had any issues with them, you just have to have a firm grip and control the pistol.

If you can swing the cash, go buy yourself a 30 and a 36. The slimmer lighter slide of the 36 will fit on the double stack frame of the 30 and functions just fine. The larger grip will help cut out malfunctions, and the increased capacity is an obvious plus. Still easily concealed and lighter than the 30 due to the differences in slide weight. The only downside is then you have to buy two pistols.
