Question about Glock trigger action.

I just completed the infamous 25 cent trigger job and am noticing the following:

1. It only affects the trigger action up until the break point. The actual trigger break seems the same.

2. The trigger action has 5 discernable stages: a. Initial 1/16" free play, b. about 3/8" consistent mild resistence, c. 1/16" increased resistence, d. trigger break, e. short trigger overtravel.

Is this consistent with other people's experience doing the DIY trigger job?

At this point, I don't think the 25 cent job is that important. Makes the trigger only slightly better. When I get the 3.5 LW trigger connector, I hope to see a much larger improvement.

Enjoyed detail stripping the G17 and was amazed at how easy it is.

IMO using the stock Glock trigger system for a few thousand rounds coupled with proper filed stripping/maintenance/correct lube (and not over doing it -with nothing rearward of the breach face on the slide) will result in a crisp breaking, happy Glock trigger!

+1. People get way too concerned about trigger feel in my opinion. As long as the break isn't gritty, I think a stock Glock trigger is perfectly fine.

Yes, my impression is that they are "perfect" out of the box.

Your findings sound about right. A 3.5lb connector will make it a bit better too, but you are still dealing with a striker fired gun, so it's never going feel like a crisp single action. But if you shoot it enough and get used to it, it will feel just as good. Get the trigger "acceptable" in your mind, then shoot the hell out of it.

Nice thing about Glocks is the very short trigger reset. Learn and take advantage of that feature

The difference after a 25 cent job is just barely noticeable, even with the most experienced shooters. You will definitely notice the difference with the lighter connector, however.

Matters... just learn to shoot "from the reset". Meaning, after you pull the trigger on the first shot of the mag, instead of releasing all the way forward, release just until you hear the click and the trigger resets. Find this point consistently (which just takes a little practice/dry fire) and your follow up shots will be quicker and more accurate. Trust me on this one. Even with the stock setup this improves most people's accuracy. Good luck.

I do shoot from reset. That's another reason why I agree that the 25 cent trigger job is somewhat irrelevant: it only impacts the first shot as far as I can see. I am hoping that the LW 3.5 connector is going to make the break just a little less resistant.

If you want a different feel then get a 3.5 connector and a NY1 trigger spring. This will make the pull consistent without all the "stages". It will come out to a 4.5 lbs pull when you're done.
