So, just started my 10 day wait on an AR Pistol lower. I'm currently planning the build. So far, I need an upper and a buffer tube kit. I was looking at the RRA Buffer Kit, and the Spikes Buffer Kit. My question (I haven't found answers to my specific question yet) is...I've built 2 ARs now, but I'm still not 100% on the effects of various BCG/Buffer combos. For a 7.5" AR pistol, do I need a M16/FA BCG *and* a H or H2 buffer, or is it one or the other? For instance, would the Spikes kit work with a FA BCG?

AR Pistol Build--Quick Question

Just get what buffer is reccommend for the upper you plan to build. I've seen the buffers that use 1911 spring up to the full size and weight buffers. How did you DROS a pistol lower? PPT, LEO transfer? There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

That's what I'm asking, what buffer is recommended for a 7.5" upper with a FA BCG? ;P
It's a PPT.

if it were me, I would go with the full auto BCG, even more so in that shorter upper. You can't loose by going that route and you can gain as it has a bit more mass in it. So, I opted to spend a little more on my BCG for my pistol and went with a FA by LMT.
Typically speaking, from my previous research, the FA BCG alone should help with any cycling issues and you don't normally do both. I would, IMHO, just start with the higher quality BCG and not yet worry about the buffer.10 +1 in the chamberComment

I have a Model 1 sales 7.5" upper. Full length buffer and Model 1 bcg. Has been great so far. I love it.Comment

Im planning on using a standard carbine buffer tube and milling off the "positions" so I cant attach a butt stock. Seems like the cheapest/most reliable solutionComment

Okay guys what kind of Magwell plug? Or sled are you using?? Extra points for homefab instead of storebought.. Seriously whats the best low $$ solution?(quote)"Glocks blow up, SIGs have a high bore axis, Beretta locking blocks break, Ruger is anti-gun, 1911s are unreliable, and HK hates you. Or, Assemble it for the first time with no buffer spring. Cheapest way to make it a single shotComment

You sure that is a legal single-shot configuration? Pretty sure the weapon could not be fired at all in that configuration so technically, it's not even single shot, nor a functional firearm.
I'd go with rareair's recommendation.Comment
