OK, I just purchased a Kahr P380. Nice little gun. I can live with the mag disconnect, but the LCI gets in the front sight path. It is still accurate but I feel it would be faster on target without the LCI. I know the law says that the gun has to be imported to CA with the safety features in place but is it legal to remove this once purchased.? Just as importantly, is it safe to remove it? Thanks for the feedback

LCI on Kahr P380
Tags: None -
You can do as you wish after you buy it. I already took out the mag disconnect on mine...Which was a PITA because there are no known guides on how to disassemble a kahr frame.
Im going to dremel the piece of the LCI that touches the case later on, that way it wont go up anymore, but there wont be a big piece of the gun that is missing too.
I also plan on getting the slide duracoated black....but that is way later later.
Good luck! -
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if I remove the LCI al together if it would leave the chamber unsupported. My concern would be a case blow out and damage to the gun or injury to myself.Comment

No that would not happen. The LCI has nothing to do with case support. It only come in contact with the very back rim of the case. Similar to the extractor, but even less. I infact have a theory that the gun will be more reliable if it is gone; because it will be that much less drag on the case as in enters and exits the chamber. (This gun is in some cases plagued by stovepipes and misfeeds).
Trust me though. It would be MUCH better if you just ground down the part that contacts the case. You will have a much nicer looking gun, dirt and grim will also be prone to collect inside the massive gape that will be exposed. It wont be hard to do, and you should consider it.
Here is that lube diagram if you didnt check it out. If you want your gun to run right, then make that your bible.
More tips I can give you are: Hold that gun VERY VERY tight. Death grip. Strangle hold. It is a small gun with very stiff springs. Limp wristing and other shooter errors will be magnified 10 fold with a gun this tiny, causing it to malfunction.
Keep your thumb away from the slide release.
Before you shoot it, rack the slide as hard and as fast as you can about 500 times. This will help break it in, and loosen those tight springs up. You might as well dry fire it between racking so you can get used to the trigger as well...The gun will eventually do the above if you shoot it, but it can help get the gun through the break in much faster.
When I first got mine, it would not cycle for crap, even after the 200 round break in. I was about to throw it against a wall when I found the lube diagram and also the tips on how to hold it etc. Now it runs like Rocky and I am happy.

Awesome diagram. I was just about to head over there to look it up. I shot about 70 rounds through it already. I had one stove pipe out of the 70 and it was the first one handed round I put through it. I knew as soon as the round went off that I limp wristed it. I am happy with it so far and don't think I will be disappointed at all over the years. Sure is more work than my glocks. I clean those (Sometimes) and just wipe of any excess lube. Never have any problems with them. Looks like the take down is more complicated too. Especially with the stupid tool you have to use becuase of the mag disconnect. The thing is tiny though and can go just about anywhere. Hey thanks again for the diagram. Why didn't they put that in the instruction book? DuhComment
