Which 1911 under $1000

Hi I'm looking into buying another 1911 and I need some help. I only have $1000 to spend. Which one would you guys recommend? I would prefer it already coming with a beavertail and skeleton hammer. Also I would like the gun in stainless.

You have a few great options:

Kimber Custom II
Springfield Loaded
S&W 1911PD
Colt XSE

Handle as many as you can to see which frame fits you best. If you can shoot as many as possible, some should automatically speak out to you.

or spend a little extra for say a dan wesson.

I've had good luck with RIA's, Colts, and SA's, I say if you can get a SA Loaded for under a grand go for it, or if you want $500 worth of ammo, get the RIA Tac, it's pretty fantastic for the price

I think a 1911 collection should have at least one colt.

Oops, did not see your follow-up post that you have a Gold Cup. How about another brand and another caliber like a springfield armory 1911 9mm.

Kimber Custom II, $700 from Bud's. So far, 1500 flawless rounds down the pipe. Enough said.

I have both a Kimber Tactical Entry II and a S&W 1911PD. Both great guns. The Kimber is a bit more than your limit unless you get a Custom or a good deal on a used one. The S&W is comfortably under $1,000 and a great gun.

I also second the recommendation to spend a bit more and get a Dan Wesson - that'll probably be my next 1911.
