My Sig P220 mags are over 20 years old and I've never cleaned them. Lubed them, but never clean...

The only one I ever cleaned was because I dropped it in the desert (in Big River). The sand gummed up the mag.

I blow them out with compressed air when I remember to.

I will normally only clean them if they get dropped in the dirt, mud, or water. If none of those happen I will clean them maybe once a year.

I wonder how many of the starters of FTF threads clean their mags? It is a mechanical part of the gun and should be clean just like the rest of the gun to function properly.
                        where are my pistol mags?

Submerge them in warm/hot soapy water. Shake them around underwater. Let drain, dry out for a few mins and spray inside with CLP. Thats what ive done in the past. (dont even need to dissasemble them)

Takes like 3 mins if your in the mood to clean them. I dont get why people wouldnt spend a couple mins to have a perfectly clean mag after shooting say a thousand rounds. Its like they brag and think its cool to have filthy discusting stuff. Wonder if they brag how long they dont take a shower for, or wash there clothes?

I clean every single one I use right after each stage during competition. The stupid sands can stick a mag easiely so I dont want that happening when Im on a roll....but as for normal shooting.....I dont think I ever have.

In 15 years or so the only mags I've ever cleaned were my 10/22 mags. For some reason those are the only ones I've had to, and STILL have to clean to keep running properly. I can't even remember cleaning any in my USMC days.

I usually clean mine after every range day. Call me weird but I like my stuff to be in top condition.
