    Your most favorite/valued handgun

Do you have a favorite handgun or something you never shot. Saving it NIB for the big day. I guess mine would be my SIG Trailside. I had it for 4 years and it's been in the safe since day one.

Shot I need to find me a extra mag.

What is "the big day" for you? I don't know how I could not shoot it.

I guess this would be mine but it has been shot and isn't perfect. I've got a long way to go.

    My other non-roster pistol.

My most valued handgun is the one that reliably goes "Bang". I have no safe queens. They're all shooters.

        Two 1911 safe queens...

This is like asking which of several children one favors. But I do have two Colt 1911s that are in unfired condition and were bought about 8 years ago as investments rather than shooters. They have gone up in value over that time. They are:

        1. Colt Series 70 Gold Cup in .45 caliber with factory electroless nickel finish.

        2. Colt Series 80 Gold Cup Elite in .38 Super caliber with blue slide and stainless frame.

Very nice. How much were they when you first purchased them and what made you think they would be good investments?

Tie: Springfield Professional and Glock 17

Price means nothing compared to utility, purpose, and overall execution of the breed. This applies to both pistols.

It is damn hard to say I have a favorite handgun. I'm guessing that my Sig 228 has the most sentimental value because it was my fathers, but I'm also very partial to my BHP Mark III which was my first handgun. Then again, my first Beretta 92FS is what sits ready to go if need be. You see my delima.

While I have a hard time with the concept of owning firearms with the intent to never fire them, I do have one that fits the description: a Beretta M9 special edition pistol. Since I have two other 92s, there is not need to shoot it, and since there is probably ZERO chance of getting the money that I put into it back, I will probably never part with it....

                  Answer to your question

Both were bought about 1999. The nickel Series 70 was $750 and the .38 Super Elite was $900. Based on recent sales I have seen, I think they have almost doubled in value.

I thought they would be good investments because they were both out of production, they were Colts in new condition, and they were fairly rare as Gold Cups go. Most Gold Cups are .45 caliber and blued or sometimes stainless. Factory nickel is unusual, as is .38 Super caliber in a Gold Cup. I knew that a lot of people like to collect Colts, which supports their value.

I couldn't afford to collect Colt SAA revolvers, so I decided that Gold Cups were a reasonable alternative. At one time I had 9 of them, but I am down to 5 now. I shoot 3 of them and don't shoot the two shown above. I used the others for trading purposes to acquire guns I wanted.

The CA "Handgun Safety List" passed about year 2000 discouraged me because it became impossible to buy these out of state and bring them in through an FFL. I got most of mine on Gunbroker Auctions from other states during the 1990s.

my P228 sits in the box even though it has around 500 rounds. But my 92fs is the workhorse that gets shot all the time.

My Sig 229. I've used the hell out of it and love everything about it. I have a number of other very nice guns and the 229 is still my favorite.

I shoot my CZ-75 every time I go out. My favorite is stiil my first gun, it is a Ruger Security Six from 1981, the first year I was able to buy a handgun.

My dads Browning 1910. My dad bought it in 1960 for $10. Its had around 120 rnds out of it but still works and looks good. Nothing special about except that it is my dads and will someday be mine then my sons.
